Just got my phone call also!  Her voice was music to my ears.  I didn't even recognize her voice.  She started to cry when she heard my voice and she made me cry.  I told her not to cry and I stayed strong.  She did mention some difficulties her div was having but that she is working hard to push through.  She definately misses home and she begged me to keep writing.  She said they are her only link to the outside world and they keep her going and give her strength.  It was so good to hear!!!!  She too said week 2 day 4.  Hope many of you got these calls today.  I know 174 got them!  Yay!!!

Got the second phone call from my daughter it was great to hear her voice even though she started crying, I tried to keep from crying with her so she would remain strong..... It was so good to hear from her, she did say that they were officially on Week 2 - Day 4 as of today. Other then a few other problems she said all is going pretty good in their division and they ALL miss everyone back home more then any of them thought they would miss us...So ladies keep the phone handy, you might be getting a phone call as well.

Great info ochaos & CrazyNavyMom!  Thanks so much ~

My son left Monday, 3/28/11; I received his box of clothes, 3/31/11, via FedEx.  On  4/3/11, I received the standard letter with 4 sentences from him. He was in good spirits.  Said he likes it there. He is a leader in his division.  The food is great. Now I'm just waiting to get the letter from him.  I will sent stamps, but will be sending a phone card after reading the posts.

Well "no news, is good news" but I don't like it right now it.  I pray for all the SR daily.

Navyvet... I started my son's car up this past weekend.  We took the insurance off of it so we can't drive it but hubby says I should start it up once a week and let it run for a few minutes.

visiting these pir groups brings me back into this.. My son graduated march 4... and i sure never thought I would live through the 8 weeks... each little mile stone was measured and exaggerated to keep me going.  I made some great friends on this site, who felt exactly as i did so that helped me from committing myself into the institution!!!  My sons division was the last one to get to write letters or make calls so it was nuts!!!    Please find things go occupy your time.  Our PIR group chose to pick ONE color scarf for all the divisions to share... we all did hot pink so we stood out at graduation amongst those who werent members here.  it also helps your sailor when he is looking at the crowd of families in their division at PIR to narrow it down to just hot pink or purple or whatever.   also.. the ribbons that lala makes help alot for introductions at the m&g and pir...and great keep sakes...ask her about it.  and the last thing i want to tell you is... taxis take advantage of you because you are in no position to not pay their rates.. i used a man named sarge who has other friends who run taxi vans too and they can save you alot of money.  his number is 847-212-0246.  I stayed at the ramada, and it was lovely....but i will also tell you the residence is real nice for suites.  Walmart is easy to find!!! and.. please eat a deep dish pizza.. i never had one...and omg it was great.. one piece and i was full!!!!    for now, copy puzzles, jokes off internet, etc to send to your sailor... send him a letter from his dog and sign it with a foot print of a dog... invite his friends to your house and take a group pic of them and send to him.. THEY LIVE FOR MAIL.  at some point send them a manilla envelope with 4 stamps on it, for them to send home stuff that they dont have room for..  just some input ladies... good luck and you are in my prayers.
