@bmello - Well it's good to know that you too have had nothing but the form letter. I guess misery loves company hahaha. You are too lucky living so close. We are coming all the way from California and it will take us most of the day on the 19th to get there. We are flying into Milkwaukee though because it was a lot cheaper. Hope to see you at graduation! Hey you never know our two sons could be bunk mates right now. Reassuring to meet someone who's son is in the same division :)

@amandarenee84 - I am so sorry this happened. It still says a lot that he was willing to go the distance but something just stood in his way that was not fixable...at least not right now. Like many of the people on here I agree that maybe this wasn't life's path for him and he was meant to be doing something else, who knows. I do feel for you and your SR. Give him lots of love and support when he returns. Best of luck to you two.

The Meet n greet will give you a name tag when you get there and Lala ribbon queen also sells ribbons that are cool.  They do have people with wheelchairs to help people into the hall for PIR or if they just want help wheeling you in.  I was in a wheelchair at my sons PIR and a very nice young man wheeled me in from the car and we went right to the front of the line, no waiting.

amandarenee - we will keep you both in our prayers.

My SR is in Div 811 as well. He told me they were starting "real" bootcamp on April 1st.

ccross:  You need to know when 1-1 was for his division (Week 1, Day 1).  Then mark that on your calendar.  They go from Day 1-5, and weekends/holidays don't count.  So if his Day 1 is on a Monday, he will always start a new week on Monday.  Once the get to 6-5 and beyond, they are in BattleStations and almost to PIR.  I would ask in a letter when his 1-1 was...or if he calls, ask him what week/day he is on that day.  You can figure it out from there!

ccross:  Depends on the division as they start training days at different times.

To Kelly in katy. We are staying at the Ramada on May 19th and going to the meet and greet.  I am so excited to meet everyone (and see my son)

I want to thank everyone for their support, thoughts, and prayers! It's really helping me get through this. People were not kidding when they said "no news is good news." I received a phone call from my love today. It felt just incredible to hear his voice. But at the same time, my heart was breaking with his. He told me he should be home by the 26th and they might actually fly him home instead of putting him on a boat. The good news is if the vision problem can be fixed w/ therapy and if its fixed, he can try and come back in 6-9 months. But once again, thank u all for everything! i'm not giving up this board just yet.

tallaly:  Mine went to Meridian MS.  You should join the group on here now for your SR's A School in addition to the one for his rating (job).  You'll get lots of info from ladies whose sailors are already there.

Welcome Wendy80!  Hope you find lots of support in this group!
