Hahaha, you'd be surprised what's made the list! I've gone with everything from Hitchcock's The Birds to Alice in Wonderland. The only things I've kept off limits are war and lost at sea movies. For pretty obvious reasons. And I try to stick to movies he's seen, although he has seen the first Sex and the City movie! So who knows, maybe tomorrow?? hahaha

Traci, it doesn't sound cheesy, it's very sweet and thoughtful. Those are the little things that help get them through. Savannah says the pictures I send make her happy, and I'm sending pictures of the Jacaranda tree in bloom, the african iris full of flowers, and her dog laying in front of her bowl to let me know she needs water. Everything helps..:)

Perry is a movie and music buff so I always send him updates on what new movies are coming out and if any of his favorite bands are releasing new albums. I also put a song or band of the day and a movie of the day every day (since I write every day) just to give him something to think about when he's got downtime. I like the idea of him running with a particular song in his head. That way he's got an imaginary playlist in his head for his whole time at boot camp. Today he got The Shins for his band and the movie Up (I drew a little picture of a house being carried away by balloons) I know, it sounds cheesy. :)

4-day-old sports news is better than nothing! I don't know about debit cards. But I suppose if you can put it in an envelope, you can mail. Though I don't know if you can insure it in case it gets lost. I seem to recall something on the Navy web site about sending things regular mail.

By the way, we only have 2 people going to PIR, in case anybody needs extra seating. Let me know and we can figure out how to get the names to my daughter.

mikesproudmom, flagged means they earned the right to carry a flag for that particular event. As I understand it, there are a certain number of flags they can earn for PIR (3 or 4, I'm not sure). DIV 192 flagged all they could. And I think if they do well academically throughout the 8 weeks, they get another flag for that.

That is a big relief... I was worried because Moe was saying in the beginning that the division was having a rough time working together and spent a lot of time getting IT'd. Sounds like they are coming around!

Fortunately for me, Moe was never into sports. Which means I don't have to give him any updates on a department I know little about (besides golf- that's my sport lol). I did, however, send him this article today.

I will be staying at the Ramada, so I definitely plan on being there for the meet and greet. I can't wait to meet the mothers of these fine recruits! =)
