I have a list too! When he called last time, I completely blanked in all of my excitement and couldn't remember a single thing I wanted to ask! So this time I'm prepared!!!

You have my deepest sympathies Gloria! At least your son is busy busy, which will help keep his mind off things until he has more time to grieve with you.

Hoping for a phone call today. Keeping my fingers crossed.

My sympathies and prayers to you, Gloria, and your family. Sad news from home must be so hard for our recruits.

In my brother's last letter he said that he is no longer going to ASchool for IT and that as of now he is technically a seaman without a job :) is that bad? Has anyone else heard of this and know what is next? IT wasn't his first pick in the begining but we are not sure if this is good or bad.

Gloria(Ship 04 Div 192)-- I will keep you and your family in my prayers. It's always difficult even though she is in a better place because you will miss her so much.

Hi everyone! This was a hard weekend for me too. My mother-in-law passed away and it was hard not to have my son there with us. We called the Red Cross on Thursday morning and that evening as his group was preparing to go march, the commander told him to hold back and the chaplain told him his Granny had died and then took him to call us. So we got to talk for a few minutes and assure him that Granny is pain-free and in a much better place. He sounded a little sad but said he was okay. He was anxious to get back to marching. It probably scared him quite a bit when they pulled him out of line. Anyway, would appreciate any prayers sent our way, but we are doing fine.

I got round trip flights from Orlando to Midway on Southwest for $240.

mikesproudmom, I've been weepy all week and Mother's Day next Sunday isn't making me feel any better. I've missed her birthday for the first time ever (18th) and now the first Mother's Day. And she told me to sell her car the day she left because she didn't think she would be needing a car for a while and it's an older car (older than she is..haha) and probably not worth the effort. But I had kept it (it's a little red convertible) and drove it a couple of times on the weekends. And then a friend of a friend was interested, so we worked out the deal. THey picked it up today and i've been weepy all day. I guess I felt that as long as the car was here she would eventually come back, and with the car gone I have to face reality. She'll come back to visit, but not to stay. She's always wanted to see the world. Can't blame, I did, too, but I just visited and came home. i think she might find some place she'll fall in love with and stay. In the mean time, I keep telling myself PIR is only three weeks away.
