Beatrizm, I am sorry that she hasn't written you more. Have you tried to send her questionnaires? My daughter said that she loves them and that most of the girls have asked their moms to send them some. My daughter didn't bring her stamps. She bought stamps before she left but them gave them to me because her recruiter said that they provide them for the SRs. She did bring some money so she may have bought them there. I have asked her in numerous letters if she wanted me to send her stamps, and she said no. I am sure that your daughter will get the birthday cards soon. I know that my daughter said that it took a very long time to get my letters and then all of a sudden, she got 5 in 1 day. My daughter said in her last letter that all of the girls in 192 are bonding and making good friends. You have to remember that by the time you get her letters, days have passed and if she sounded down in the letter, things could have changed by now.

Does she have any other obligations to certain people to write to? She just may not have enough time to write to everyone she wants to. I know that the reason that I am getting 2 and 3 letters at a time is because she is writing when she is not suppose to. Her letters, except the Sunday ones, always end in "I gotta go before I get in trouble. I'm not suppose to be writing right now". So keep your head up and remember, NO NEWS IS GOOD NEW when it comes to bootcamp.

Jess's Mom, This is only the second letter Ii've gotten from her, both written on a Sunday. The first one arrived the following Thursday, so I wasn't expecting anything today. It was a nice surprise. She didn't mention receiving any birthday cards, and I know between family and friends she should be getting quite a few. I do hope we get phone calls Monday. I may have to send her more stamps, though, because she traded some to another recruit for help shining her boots! :)

Beatrizm, my daughter said in her last phone call on the 19th that they will get phone privileges in 2 weeks so I am assuming this Monday with be phone calls. Thanks for the info on what they are doing this week. I don't get my letters until Thursdays. They should be getting more letter writing privileges next week on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as their usual Sundays. Maybe we will start getting more mail.

Savannah said this is "Hell Week": Monday was Marlonspike (sp?), basic seamanship class on a mock ship like Battle Stations; Tuesday is their second PFA; Wednesday is a simulated live fire class and while they are learning how to shoot, their racks will be torn apart and inspected; and Thursday is live fire. Didn't mention what is scheduled for Friday.

I dono't know when Ship 04 DIV 192 is getting phone privileges again, but finally got a second letter from my daughter. She's not sounding quite as positive as the first one and the phone call, but more realistic, seems to be making some friends and you can hear the determination in her tone to succeed. Said one of her biggest Ah Ha moments was the realization that everyone is starting to figure out what the Navy is really about: taking pride in what you do and how you are perceived. She said the whole base is clean, no trash or dust or gum anywhere, and it's not just a matter of laws but a matter of pride. (If only she'd felt that way about her room-hehehehe). ANd she ends with "27 days!" I hadn't heard from her since the phone call on the 19th, and was starting to get a little down, but the letter arrived today on her 18th birthday!

Got a three page letter today. Sounds great. He said they got to do an "eyes right" march which is when they look the parents and the officers in the eye, said it gave him chills. Not too much longer ladies.

All that time and money to learn about tanning booths lol Amazing what they remember sometimes. hahaha

I'm allergic to all those self tanners. The chemical that activates them makes me break out in hives and itch like crazy. But the Sally Hansen stuff doesn't look orange, and comes in different shades. It doesn't get darker, either. I use it when I haven't been out in the sun so I don't have to wear pantyhose for work. And mikesproudmom's daughter is right, tanning booths are not a good thing.
