Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It was so good to hear his voice. We also got a bunch of letters on Wednesday. He sent one of the form letters I sent him back. At least I got a little info from it. His best friend left yesterday to boot camp. I hope they will see each other their.

In my husband's last letter he asked me to write a friend that hasn't received any mail. I've written, but I'm sure he would appreciate additional mail to let him know we're pulling for him on this side. If you have a few minutes to help me out just shoot me a message and I'll send you his information. Thanks everyone!

God knows where we are and if we miss a call, we'll get a message and be able to listen to their voices over and over again. That's how I'm trying to look at it. Have a great time with your other son.

Worried that if the call comes this weekend, Rob will call the house and not my cell. :-( He has no idea I'm not going to be home. For the first time I hope the call "doesn't" come this weekend.

He's going to dentist this week and will have an entire day to rest. He's excited about that. There's an inspection this week and a test too. He sounded positive. Positive is good.......!

Comment by Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL) on April 15, 2010 at 5:28pm: I got letter #2 today. They took her two bottom wisdom teeth out last week and said the Vicoden was a big help. She got two days rest, but did not fall behind at all. She said to expect a call on the 19th if the do well the rest of this week. Keeping fingers crossed for that call.

Comment by grumsmom on April 15, 2010 at 4:47pm: beatrizm, all of us who are getting letters so know what you are going through, because we too were there. You're glad for others but sad for you. The best part about this is being able to share your joy (because it is so far and few between). Once letters come they will be well worth the wait. Keep your chin up, they will come. I think they really send them by turtle the first time.
