For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

We met last March or April, talked literally everyday for months, and then started dating in August. So I've gotten "good morning" texts pretty much everyday since then, then we'd talk throughout the day, everyday. So it's really weird not having any of that anymore...but you're right. It ISN'T permanent!

I've been having a rough time because my boyfriend is starting to feel imaginary. I know this isn't permanent, but I have never spent more than a day away from him. This feels like forever... thank goodness for pictures and videos of him..

Yeah, Jason sounded like he was in high spirits, though I'm excited for the letter after he starts his intense physical training! I really can't believe it's almost been two weeks either, so I'm thinking it'll go pretty quickly! Our PIR is officially on the "upcoming graduations" page on the RTC website, so that made me a little happier!

Comment by Sara on April 5, 2010 at 6:55pm: I received a letter from my son on Thursday. He sounded very positive. Said he had been made EPO (Education Petty Office) since he had college. He said they would be starting physical training this week. Had to wait for everyone to be cleared by medical.

It is better to keep his last name and identity unknown. I will post a Discussion about OPSEC (which tells you what you can and cannot discuss).

I would imagine (although, there's NEVER a sure thing obviously!) that they were given time to write on Sunday, since it was Easter. I write him almost everyday, and then send two or three letters together in an envelope, because otherwise, he'd be getting around 45 more seperate letters, just from me alone haha!

I haven't gotten the first written letter yet, but the 4 lines in his form letter were filled with just what I needed to hear =)

Grumsmom- I hope you get your first letter this week! I will keep our fingers crossed for us.

My son's girlfriend got a letter on Friday, I don't see anywhere where a mom got a letter yet other than form letter. The way it looks, you guys got the "real letters" and we got the "info letter" So jealous lol waiting for mine. I
