Hello everyone my son is on ship 4 division 812. I'm very new @ this but I find this site awsome and has helped me to not worry so much.

I just made two hotel reservations because I'm not whether my son will want a "home cooked" meal or just to go out (of course if not grad and go). Residence Inn which has full kitchen accommodations, the current Navy grad rate is $79 & 89, it currently is set through May 17th, but she said I could go ahead and make the reservation now and then call on Monday and talk to the sales department and see if they are extending the current Navy rate. If they are not, I can just cancel the room. The 2nd reservation I made was Red Carpet Inn $56 a night for two guests, free shuttle to and from graduation. It is only 1.5 miles from base. Just thought I'd share what I found.

Thanks mikesproudmom! I'm in Atlanta and have a leased vehicle, so I'll have to fly. Air fare is only around 220.00 right now. I also found a rental car for less than 15.00 a day on hotwire.com - which ends up being like 60.00 total with unlimited mileage. I haven't looked into hotels yet though, but 53.99 a night doesn't sound bad.

SailorMoesGirl, I laughed when I read "eloquent writing." I'm interested to see my husbands lack of eloquent writing. I'm not sure how he'll do without a spell check. He dropped the F-bomb within the four lines of the form letter so I'm sure there's more of that to come. :o)

Has anyone started making travel plans yet? I figure sooner is better, but thought I'd see if anyone had some advice.

You will get more calls. Don't beat yourself up over it. Our boys weren't supposed to be earning a call for atleast 3 weeks, how we were supposed to know to expect one 4 days after they got there? Maybe next week(end) we will get our first legitimate call! I can't wait for the first full letter though. I love my boyfriend's eloquent writing =)

I got my 1st letter today. My Son arrived at RTC March 22 and I got "The Box" on March 25th.I have not received the form letter yet.He told me it was really rough ,but the 1st night was the worst. He said as of March 28th they had not started their P-days yet but were supposted to on March 29th.And medical checks and shots also on March 29th.He also told me that his division preforms with the rifle team, choir, and band and they will be preforming the last 3 PIR's the 3rd being his own,he said someone told him PIR was the beginning of June but he didn't know if that was for sure but was sure it would be on a Friday.

Erin, I looked at your past posts and you said he had processing days longer than expected. Maybe this put a delay on his papers being sent to you, but he was able to write to you before those got shipped out. What day did he make it to boot camp?

Mike's Mom- I received my form letter today too and my recruit started off by saying "Boot camp is crazy. I dont know how I'm going to survive without you by my side. I'm alright (for now)." and he ended it with "PS: I got lots of stories" haha I can't wait to hear these...
