allyson, it's hard with the holiday around here too!!!! This will be the first holiday that my son was not at home. We all miss having him around too! I just say a prayer and hope he's not feeling as lonely there! It will all be over soon (that's what I keep saying!)

I'm having a hard day today.  I spent quite a bit of time on weekends with my son and I am just feeling down today :-(

...think I would not send the one to the RDC...  :-)  Not sure "brown nosing' is a good idea in the Navy!  HA!

Elizabeth:  Book through the weekend just in case your sailor doesn't have to leave out on Sat.  It would be a shame to say goodbye to your new sailor when liberty isn't up yet if you were to book your flight home earlier...you can always sightsee during that extra day if your sailor leaves.

bllz:  Your SR will be told where A School is for that particular rate.  My son knew before he left for bc because in his rate, all are trained at the same place.

teach:  That would be great and several PIR groups have done that.  The SRs love it.  Just make sure to address the large envelope to your SR, not to the division in general.  She will probably have to open it in front of the RDCs but when they see what it is, then that should be fine.

here4kids- Yes, maybe I'll have them send one to the RDC- wouldn't that be funny?? Or maybe it would be very bad......

I teach 2nd grade and my little kiddos want to make cards for my daughter. Will it be a problem if I send a large envelope (if I ever get the dang address!!) with a lot of handmade cards inside?? Also, I thought that I'd have them make some generic cards for her to give to anyone who doesn't get mail. I know that drawings from 7 yr olds and the funny things they say - bring a smile to my face- and I think they may to a SR too. What do you think?? Can I do it?
