I want a call Sunday and at least Mother's Day.  Yes, I agree how do you know if you will have the entire weekend with you son or not.  We need to book airfare soon who the price to purchase will only go up--------unless someone has a better way to book.  The least I have found was $400 round trip.

Thank You.  I am so very grateful for this site---it would be ten times as hard had one not been able to share and find comfort from those who know the drill.

They are usually ready for BattleStations after week/day 6-5...sometimes their training can be delayed for one reason or another (happened when the base closed down for snow earlier this year).  But most do BattleStations during week 7.

No, that's correct, here4kids.  They will be starting BattleStations for this PIR group on her day 6-5 or 7-1.  Her division will be first to go.  So she is right on with the week/day number!  Mark it on your calendar.  Day 1 will be every Thurs.  Well, she will lose a day with Memorial day (holidays don't count for training) so that week, her day 1 will be Friday.  But regardless, she most likely will be doing BattleStations on Thurs, Jun 2nd.

If A-school is in Great Lakes they will get about 4 hours with you on Friday after they move all their stuff and check into A-school. They will get all day Saturday and all day Sunday with you as well providing they don't have watch or duty for a few hours on either of those days.

If A-school is elsewhere, they will get the remainder of the day Friday with you, about 7 hours. If they fly out on Saturday you can meet them at the airport and have anywhere from another hour to a few hours with them depending on what time you get there and what time their flight is. (As long as they are not on a chartered flight, but that doesn't happen very often) Some going to A-school in other locations will fly out on Saturday and some won't leave until Sunday or Monday. They pretty much tell them all they are leaving at 2am Sat morning but when they get the actual flight info the night before PIR they find out otherwise. If A-school is somewhere other than Great Lakes I would plan on staying the whole weekend anyway if you can. There have been several families who found out after they got there that they could have spent the whole weekend with their Sailor but instead had to get on a plane to fly home.
