I didn't hear from my SR any word on her A school orders. She'll be going to corpsman training. Her recruiter told her she'd go to GL (even though a few weeks before she left, he told her it might be…Continue

I can't wait for the form letter i hope it comes soon. I think i have written him a short novel by now, it would be nice to send it to him. I think the hardest part about all of this is the wait.
My Daughter-in-law received my son's box today. She was sad and cried.
I am glad that I didn't receive the box because I would of cried my eyes out. One week has passed and I miss my son so much.....he was in and out my house nearly every day...I miss his voice. No address yet waiting for that so I can write and finally hear from him. Looking forward to PIR like all the other Navy Moms!
Hello everyone, I am Lora, AKA Lala The PIR Ribbon Queen. I am here like several other veteran moms & JessicaB and Diannep to help answer questions about boot camp and A-school. I have a daughter and SIL in the Navy. My daughter is an AO, she was in the performing div in bootcamp in the choir. If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to ask.
I know right now it seems like you will never survive this. It is hard, especially the first 3 weeks. But each week gets better. First the box, then the form letter arrive and you feel a little better. Then finally a real letter comes and for many of you it will be very hard. At this point they are having a hard time (P days suck: these are my sailors words) they may be home sick, they are tired and wondering what the heck they have gotten into. The next letter will be better, the food is good and they have made some friends. In most cases each letter is a little better than the last and just when you think you can't take it anymore you will get a phone call and that will hold you over for a few days until another letter arrives. I think this is much like bootcamp for the families as well. And I think sometimes it is harder for the families because the recruits know what life at home is like but we have only what we learn on this site to go by and we wonder if they are happy, eating enough, sleeping well, or getting a lot of IT (intense training) the not knowing seems like torture. But hang in there, this too shall pass. It will get better and better each week and before you know it you will be heading to PIR. The time will pass much faster than you ever thought it would. Then they head to A-school and you will finally have communication back :-) So be strong, you can do this and we are here for you because we are your new Navy family :-)
