Where is Girlsky when you need her excitement?

I picked up a few more blue candles yesterday. I have 4 going for Teach's SR and 4 going for battlestation safety.  My daughters friends say my kitchen is looking like a blue candle store.

I think I am going to keep a blue candle going on my kitchen countertop to continue to pray for all the young SR's as they go through BC. You do not really understand or respect it until you experience yourself with your family.

I was out running last minute errands and I stopped by a locally owned craft store.  I picked up a few small items ( awesome blue candle on clearance) and was checking out.  The young lady checking me out had on a lovley red, white and blue beaded bracelt.  I commented it on it and she told me she was a Marine wife.  I told her I was a Navy mom.  We chatted and both ended up in tears.  Her husband recently returned from Afghanistan.  she was telling me how many marines in his division came home with no paychecks in the bank and got handled divorce papers almost immediately.  It broke my heart to hear of these young men.  Another item to add to our prayers.  Our sailors need spouses that are equipped to handle Navy life as a partner and are not just looking for a steady paycheck.

Congrats, Parrot! I am so happy for you. I'm also glad you just decided to dive in and make the call. Good for you.

I have sent two off to college and one of those even spent a semester abroad. There is no comparison sending them to bootcamp. It's a LOT harder. The unknowns, the lack of communication- no comparison

Goodness gracious, I just got some sleep and spent 30 minutes catching up!! :)

SO HAPPY for Parrot and G...YAY! Let's keep sending prayers to here4kids' SR.

MJ...you are so efficient...guess I should start mine now. :) Can't hurt, right?

I've never sent a kid to college or bootcamp...but I think you have every right to be irritated that a friend made that comparison. The environment and communication levels are totally different. I love this site because we all know what each other is going through...whereas our friends and family, even if they mean well, just don't get it. You all ROCK!
