Hi Kim and Jenny. My name is Anna. My son Jesse is also assigned to ship 13 div 242 with PIR 07/09/2010. Signed up as a corpsman. I have already booked a room at the Ramada. Don't know if we will make the meet and greet. We will be driving from Hayden Alabama. It's going to be a looooong drive..... It's great to know others who have sons/daughters assigned to the same ship!
My husband also made hotel reservations at The Red Carpet Inn. We will find out if it is a loser when we get there. OH BOY I hope its not a loser.

I told my husband it doesn't matter where we stay I just can't wait to see our son.

We will be flying into Chicago early Thursday afternoon and going straight to the hotel

We look forward to the graduation and meeting the families of all the recruits.

It will be a wonderful time for all of us.

Gail
what was yalls rate at the Ramada? I called the Navy Lodge and it is 260 for 4 days so let me know about the Ramada thanks and I havent gotten a letter from my son yet checking the mail everyday just hoping one will be in there. I miss him so much.
Hey this is Anna, I booked at the Ramada ... 125.00/nite for a room with 3 Queen beds. Still, no letter yet. :(
Hi Ladies, We received a letter about 3 days ago. Jesse didn't say too much. He's not much of a writer. Did say that his RDC is tough-- don't know what an RDC is, I suspect his drill instructor. He did tell us that he is the religious petty officer of his division -- boy, I was surprised but very proud to hear that. Also said "It's really fun". Has anyone else's child stated that It's fun??
My son wrote that it was fun as well!
Yea!!!!! got a letter and phone call today I am so happy my son asked me what the names of the guys moms I am talking to and I told him some first names and he said mom I dont know first names lol He said find out last names I said I would try lol I am so happy to talk to him today he sounds really great and loving it.
It was really great getting a phone call from our sons. We received 6 letters and a phone call from him all in the same day. It was like a special occasion. We have been apart from our son before for vacation or business but always had contact via cell phone or email. It feels like the recruits graduation is coming so fast. It will be here before you know it. We are looking forward to spending time with our Navy sailor.

After boot camp Sean will be going to A school at Great Lakes as an Electrician. He explained on the phone when he called that is depends on how well they do as a diviision as to how much liberty they get. Even if we only get a couple of hours it would be great. I am so excited I can hardly wait. I will be like a little kid in a candy shop. LOL

I hope everything goes well for all our boys on Ship 13, Div 242, Us mom's are looking forward to graduation day.

So long for now, Gail
Hi sean13mom242,

Is your son AECF (Advanced Electronics Computer Field)?? That is what my son will be going to A School for. Glad to hear you have received lots of letters and a phone call. Wow 3 weeks from this coming Friday. I can't wait....it is like a kid in a candy shop for sure!! :) Take care.
Colleen, Sean is an electrician and my husband said his job is an electricians mate. He will be doing his A school in Great Lakes.

I have never seen my son write so much in all his life. My daughter is the big writer in the family. She can not believe how long Seans letter are.

He does really like it but is very exhausted. When we spoke with him on the phone last week my daughter said he sounded home sick, but my husband and I thought he sounded great. He has not been getting very much sleep probablly just like the rest of the recruits.

I can't wait until we see him at graduation. I also hope we get to spend some time with him during our stary. We fly out Thursday from PA and return on Sunday afternoon.

My husband just told me somebody posted an RTC graduation from 7/2/09 on U Tube. I have to go check it out.

I will be back later,

Gail
What your son is doing sounds very interesting. I know they are so busy so I can only imagine that they just fall into bed at the end of the day. I got a call last week and my son was sick...and tired. He has a chest cold. I guess a lot of them get that while they are there. I was a little sad today though....I got a letter but when I opened it there were three letters inside for his friends. Nothing for me. That's OK though he probably ran out of time. They have also had a holiday in their schedule and another one coming up so this has also made them more crunched for time as well I think. I can't believe that in three weeks at this time I will probably be running around getting everything ready for our trip for PIR. Time seems to be moving much faster now than in the beginning!! Thank goodness!! It's been nice chatting with you and I can't wait to see all our Sailors graduate as well. How excited and proud we are going to be!!! Take care.
Colleen, I am feeling kind of sad today also. Last week we received 6 letters and a phone call all in the same day. No letters received today from our son. I can't believe your son sent you the letters for his friends. What a little stinker. I would be mad. Just kidding that is to funny.

When I spoke with Sean he said alot of the recruits had the Ricky Crud. They also told them it could be from all the immunizations they received plus being run down from boot camp.

Yes they are really cramped for time. My son told me they are doing boot camp in a six and a half week time where the others get eight weeks. They are really pushing them to finish a week and a half early. I am exhausted just wrirting about it. Well pretty soon boot camp will be behind them.

What is your sons job in the navy?

Talk to you later, Gail
