His one friend did read me his letter but no real info. I sent him a numbered list of questions...that I would like to know the answers to but now don't even remember what all of them were. He tells me his div is doing well but doesn't really tell me where they are at in the timeline of things. I think I have asked like 4 or 5 different times now when his divisions Battle-stations are and still haven't got that answered either. Boys....some things never change!! ;)
Jenny, Yes Sean goes to A school in Great Lakes for electrical. We knew that before he left for boot camp. His recruiter told him that his A school is on the same base as BC. He said A school would be about 6 months. The RDC told him he will have fun in Great Lakes in the winter. Its bitter cold. Our son told us depending on how well they do as a division is determined by how much liberty they will get after graduation. So I don't know how much time we will be able to spend with him. We hope to at least take him out to dinner and do a little something.

I thought we were not going to get mail from him this week. We received 3 letters today. He is very tired and would like a little more sleep. Somebody on here was talking about a messy rack. Well during an inspection our son was told his pillow was one sixteenth of an inch off. Sean stated the reason the RDC new it was because he took a ruler out and measured it. I don't know about all you other mothers but I don't think Sean ever made his bed at home. LOL My husband and I were cracking up. He told us in his letters from the very beginning you learn real fast to do what they say when they say it. The Navy Way.

Sean sent his father a very touching Fathers Day letter. I wonder if they will let the recruits call for Fathers Day. Just a thought.

Talk to you all later, Gail
I have not gotten a phone call yet. Am i the only one?
I have not gotten one either. I am so afraid I am going to miss it!
My son is in Ship 13 Div 242. His letter this week said he hoped to get the privilege of a phone call. I am so afraid I or my husband will miss it. He sounds upbeat and positive in his letters. Has been to sick bay once. I cannot wait. Even though he has been away at college and out of the nest, it is so different. I am a control freak and had to turn this over to the Lord. It has made my prayer life richer. I let my son know in a letter to him that God used him to draw me closer!
Brown Eyed Girl,

I think if he misses you on your home phone he can call a cell phone. My son made several calls after he spoke with me on our home phone. He called my husband and a friend.

I hope you don't miss his call either.

It is good that your son is upbeat and positive in his letters. My son told us he does not regret his decision to join the navy. This is a good thing.
Jenny, What is it with the military. They don't give you any info until the very last minute. Like somebody said Hurry up and wait. LOL

This is why I don't know how much time we will have with Sean at graduation (3 weeks from today) Time is really flying.

If your son is being held in GL after graduation I am pretty sure he will not have the same bunk. Don't you think they will need it for the next group of incoming recruits.

Do you think they will give him liberty until Thursday? That would be nice.

Maybe they will let you take him home so he can catch up on his sleep before he starts A school. LOL
As far as liberty goes they have to be back on base by 9pm on Fri. & Sat. and 8pm on Sunday. The navy also suggests to have them back a little early.(8:45pm)
Yes, we also received three letters from our son today. His division is doing very well. They did have a tough week but he did very well on inspections and tests. I wanted to cry when I read my letter. He said Mom keep writing your encouraging letters it is really getting me through boot camp. I always right how proud I am of him and I know that he can do anything he puts his mind to. He is a fighter like his mother. LOL I never let anyone get in my way when I want to accomplish something. He told us it is hard to stay awake in classes because they are all so tired. They won't even give them a cup of coffee. I don't know about anyone else but I don't run until I have my cup of coffee. The recruits are so busy that time is really flying for them. We are looking forward to graduation but Battlestations 21 comes before that. I wish all the recruits well and GOOD LUCK. Battlestations is all about teamwork. I hope the division does well as a team. He also mentioned something about hoping to make a phone call but I am not counting on it. I think its nice we can share our letters from all our wonderful recruits that joined the navy to servce our country.
Hi ladies,
What kind of attire do we wear to PIR?
I am wearing capr's also and a nice top and sandals. I want to be comfortable also. The weather in IL looks like its a little cooler than in NJ. We will be in the mid 90.s this week. The 70.s are fine with me. I am so looking forward to graduation.
It is very hot in NJ. Mid 90.s YUCK I don't take humidity well and as my husband said I am very cranky. I am cranky because I want to see my son too.
We are staying at The Red Carpet Inn. Is it at least decent? My husband made the reservations.

Sean said they found out how intense Senior Chief gets. He said one flag holder being an 1/8" taller with his ball cap on than the recruit behind him in the height line. Chief was red like a tomato They may not get the marching flag because of the street hit. I don't know what a street hit is but it does affect division score. Sean did not mention anything about it getting taken away because it wasn't there fault. The RDC was actually scared for her life. The LT. had to take Chief outside the drill hall to calm him down. Sean mentioned they rec'd the athletic flag but I thought I read in a post somewhere they got another, but they didn't know what it was for. So maybe two flags.
