Hey all, is Corry Station known to be a more lenient base? Or, rather, is it just the commanders of IT that are lenient? I ask because our son just this Weds. got to phase 2 and he checked with his commander and they're allowing him to have his car already. He's still awaiting school to start. So now tomorrow we're driving 2 cars up (yuck) to PNS to spend the weekend with him. He's got a convertible and has let me have his car so I'm gonna miss it-especially the filling the gas tank. I have a grand marquise and it costs double to fill it up.

Also, Colleen, welcome to our group. There doesn't seem to be a lot of activity here but, maybe, every few days for chatting. But I'm here as your welcoming committee tonight.

I'll tell you what I know Colleen. Our son PIR 1/30/09 and got to Corry Station that same night. He's an IT (computer technology). All last week thru tomorrow he's been doing orientation stuff. He called us tonight and said that he'd just gotten his security clearance (we've still to hear from the FBI or whomever it will be). He doesn't seem to think that it will be very long at all for his schooling to start. Originally he'd thought it was to start this week. Justin said he hasn't classed up yet but that he thinks he can now. When he PIR's his commander had said that he was putting in for 8 in his division to class up and that Justin was one but he hasn't heard any more on that. What is your son going to be doing now as his schooling?

Hi there everybody. I'm brand new to this group. Our son just arrived late Friday night. We flew up to Chicago for his PIR and he had that darned grad n go so we then flew to PNS to spend the weekend with him (which we didn't get much time with him since he couldn't leave base and had to keep checking in and doing things). Anyway, I don't know if I'm right since it's all so new to us but (Tori C.) Justin told us he will graduate IT A school the beginning of April. It was suppossed to be 3 months but now it's 2 months.

It in our plans.... Christmas in Hawaii next year (hopefully with both sons)!!!

My son's CTT group had two choices for Christmas leave. My son signed up for the first one which was Dec 17 - Dec 28. The second group gets Dec 24 - Jan 4. I think that is right. Of course, they can't leave base until a certain time and they have to be back at a certain time. Our son had to sign up before they even knew the dates!!!! Of course that worked out perfectly for us. We will be going to Key West to have Christmas with our son who is in the Coast Guard. It might be the last Christmas we are all together for a while. Our CTT son is heading to Hawaii after C-School!!!

I think the internet question was answered. You do have to pay for it in your room. There are computers somewhere at Corry that the sailors can use. My son did that for quite a while instead of paying for cable. By the way, we mailed our son's civilian clothes to him while he was in phase one. He just couldn't wear them.

No "choosing of roommates" for my son at Corry. He was assigned a room. Your son will be in phase 1 for a while (two weeks I think). They have to wear their uniforms or navy gear at all times. They cannot leave base. On phase 2, they can wear civilian clothes and leave base, but cannot spend the night off base. Phase 2 lasts about 3 weeks, if I recall correctly. Our son was grad n go so we took his phone and laptop to him at the airport. He was able to use it immediately when he got to Corry Station. You will have to mail your son's stuff to him, but he should be able to use them. My son is a CTT so the different rates may have different "rules". Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.

Our son graduated from CTT A-School at Corry Station the Friday before Thanksgiving. He will be home for Christmas the evening of December 17 and has to return to Corry on December 28.
