Good morning all! Well, my Devin headed back to VA yesterday, has some paperwork to deal with today and then will be heading off to Naples tomorrow. The 3 weeks he was home passed by so quickly! Feeling a little lonely today, my home just lights up when he is there, it was far to quiet when I got back from the airport! Such conflicting emotions, I am so proud of him I could burst and at the same time miss him so much I could sob.

Hi, how is everyone doing, just wanted to let you know that Stephen is now a E3, Bravo Zulu to my son!

Well Robin he loves his new place. The Navy gave them a stove, microwave and refrigerator. No beds so Stephen bought a blow up bed, and it is working out just fine. The bedrooms are upstairs and they have two bathrooms. They bought an area rug for downstairs and Stephen had a cough and his friend has a futon. The kitchen is very small but it seems to work for them. They will not have internet until January. His landlord speaks no english, but Stephen and him seem to do pretty good and seems to be a nice man. He did say the floors were cold, I sent him two runners, door mat (he wanted one) two rugs for the bathroom and two towels, I saw a towel bar in one of the bathrooms. I am also going to send him a set of flannel sheets he has one set, one set is not enough. He loves his new place and is very excited about it. Oh the Navy gave both boys a dress to hang clothes. They do not know if they are going to get cable (well if that is what they call it) they have a lot of movies and they both work a lot. They are making plans for Christmas and New Years. LOL Wish I could go. I sent everything you told me to Stephen and he read it and said thanks for the information.

Carrie, are sailors have met! YEA! Stephen has invited her for Christmas. He said she is very nice. LOL I already knew that. Hope you are well talk to you soon.

GO NAVY, WE BEAT THE ARMY FOR FOOTBALL ON SATURDAY!

Robin - you are a computer genious! I have my copies of his stuff at home, I'll look at it tonight and if I can't figure it out I will take you up on that! I really want to get a box of Christmas goodies in the mail now so that there's at least a slight chance he'll get them on time! Of course I'm going to slide a few little things into his luggage as well! :0)

We bought the cameras and Devin has downloaded the Skype onto my computer. So I'm working on my communication items! I don't know much about the accomodations yet except that he will have his own room but I think he shares a bathroom and maybe a kitchen? Kind of sounds like the student housing my older son lived in at college actually! If I'm not mistaken he'll be living by the hospital at the "big base" I haven't brushed up on my Naples information yet, still wrapping my head around the fact that he's going! I have been terribly spoiled this past year by the Navy - Devin has been home 5 times now and I thought that when he went off to bc I would barely see him at all! Now we get to pay it back! We are planning a trip to Naples in the fall of next year already!

I have been stocking up on the calling cards! Was wondering if they can get an international cell phone but I guess it would be pretty darned expensive if there was such a thing. I looked all through his orders and cannot find a new mailing address, thinking maybe it's in the paperwork he needs to take care of on Monday. I'm sure I'll be able to talk with him for as long as his cell works! His contract is up in January so we aren't even going to bother having it turned off, just letting the contract run out. He's got friends for corpsman school already there and is looking forward to seeing them, I think it helps tremendously knowing they're there, he won't feel so all alone at the holidays! Got him a new lap top this week as well, wondering about wi-fi there and how do they get connected to the internet?

Sharon, I know how you feel, this Christmas is going to be very hard. The time change it the hard part also, I get home from work and he is sleeping, it is hard to get to talk to him sometimes and they do work 12 hr days or longer sometimes, I usually wake him up so I try not to call anymore. You need skype that is the best, you get to see their handsome faces. LOL Well we are here for one another so thank God for this site and Robin is our fountain of information. LOL Sharon what base is he on?

Hi Carrie and Robin! Robin I can't wait to tell you about Stephen's place I have to find some times and I will post about his place. I have sent him a few things already you know us mothers!!!

Carrie - have Devin home for 2 more days and then he heads back to VA, he has some paperwork to do on Monday and then is heading to Naples on Tuesday. I've gotten so used to being able to just call him that I am dreading the days ahead when I am waiting on an e-mail! This is the first Christmas that he will be away from home, I keep telling myself, it's just one day, get over it! Do you have any children still at home?
I ran into a retired Master Chief the other day and of course we got to talking about Devin and when I told him he was headed to Naples he got a big grin on his face and told me that he would absolutely love it there, his son was actually born there while he was stationed there.
