Robin - that is so cool to see that! I'm a tad on the computer illiterate side so these things thrill me! LOL Hey - take a look at my photos, is that your Ali in Chicago with my son? I'm sure there's more than one Ali in the Navy but Dev's friend went to Italy too!

Carrie - not sure what date Devin will get there, he is graduating this morning and flying home tonight but we don't know what day he has to be back in VA to fly out by yet. Well, I should say as of last night he didn't know, that may change today! At the moment he thinks he will be home for 20 days rather than 30 days as he took some time off in May after A school to attend his brother's wedding. I'm just happy he gets to come home at all! His passport arrived this week so that he will be able to do some traveling on his free time while there! I have applied for mine and my husbands, definitely planning on going over there at some point.

I have no idea what base Devin will be on, I do know that he has been assigned to an eye surgeon but that's about all the information I've gotten thus far. He is coming home tomorrow so I will have to drill him for more info! Two of his friends from corpsman school are already there so I'm hoping the adjustment will be a lot easier for him this time. Seems like they get pretty comfortable and make friends and then before they know it, they're off to somewhere different and have to start all over again! Is Ali or Jeremy's mom on this site?

Hi Sharon and welcome! Robin has lived in Italy for 10 years so she is filled with information. My son is an IT and Carrie's daughter Amber is also a Corpman, she is home now and will be leaving for Naples soon, she is stationed on the Capo base, that is where my son is. I am leaving May 25th to see my son, I don't think anyone else has been there, I believe my son has been there the longest. We will help you with anything we can. Glad you are here!

Carrie, make sure that Amber takes an extra pair of clothes with her on the plane just in case they loose her bags, also to have some money on her also just in case, Stephen had a terrible time getting to Naples and then finally her got there they lost his bags for three days. He also carried his computer on the plane with him.

Hi All! Not a Naples mom just yet, my son will be heading to Naples in December for 3 years. He is a Corpsman, graduating tomorrow from Surgical Tech C-school in Portsmouth. He's coming home for a few weeks and then off to Italy he goes! He is very excited, has several friends from Corpsman school that are already there. Have any of you taken a trip to Naples to visit your sailors? Thinking I just might have to fit that into my plans! Looking forward to getting to know y'all!

Sounds good Robin. How nice to be going with other sailors, I know their parents will be so grateful that they have somewhere to go for Thanksgiving. Well like me I make a turkey the following week so I do have left overs you can do the same. Just enjoy yourself, I bet the weather is nicer there then here!!!!!

Yea, she is home. Yes Stephen is on the Capo, that would be great if they were together. Stephen has his own room, he has a ceiling fan and a air unit in his room. Heat works great! They gave him one set of sheets, he is getting another set for Christmas. I never mailed him clothes or anything heavy he took everything with him, so the boxes I have sent him have been large flat rate boxes and it cost me $11.95 and that is packed, you can put over 20lbs inside and it only cost $11.95, not too bad. To ship any other way it is very expensive. He has a bed, dresser, desk, he got a couch from a friend who was buying a new one and he just bought himself a TV. He does pay for internet but it is not too bad. We cancelled his phone and yes you have to tell them that she is in the Military and then there is no cancellation fee. Stephen bought a phone out there, he doesn't use it much everything cost so much money. But Robin is right Skype is the best thing every and it is free. Oh, the have a micro-wave in there room. If they want to cook they go to a kitchen that everyone uses, you have to clean up after yourself. He did have to buy a shower curtain. That i what I can think of, I am sure Stephen can give her lots of suggestion what she needs to bring. I am just so happy for you that she is home. We will talk soon.

Robin, as always we can always count on you for information, thanks! I am so glad you are here. What kind of plans do you have for Thanksgiving?
