Carrie, she will love it, I am sure. It is a wonderful opportunity for our children. I cannot wait to go to see my son. I will take a lot of good notes for you so when you go I can tell you everything. And once Amber makes some friends she will be so busy she will not have enough hours in a day to do everything.

LOL they do drive like crazy, Stephen says they go on the sideways if they have too, he has taken the train to Rome, very cheap and the Navy Lodge runs around $47 a night and that is with a kitchen, if anyone neeeds the number let me know I have it. One thing Stephen has not find any trouble communicating with people, he says they speak english everywhere, maybe broken but they do speak english. Mt Vesuvio is right outside Stephen's room, I have seen it on skype and Stephen has been to Pompeii that is a day trip he enjoyed that also.

Thanks Robin, my son has been in Naples for around 6 months, so I do know some things, but thanks for all the information you gave us. I know my son loves it but it can be boring at times. I wish they had a px on the base for them, not just a subway and a cafe. He has been to Rome and Sicily already and has enjoyed the trips. We are planning a visit to Italy in May, how is the weather in May, I heard it was good?

Hi Carrie, how are you doing?

Oh my goodness, you are very busy and having two children God Bless you! I have heard that their boot camp is very hard. I know a mom who has two boys, one in the Marines and one in the Navy went in at the same time. They are both doing fine but I find it hard with just one in, cannot even think of two. Enjoy your trip and be safe, would love to see some pictures when you come back.

Skype is free you just download it and if your computer doesn't have webcams you will have to buy some, our computer is old so I had to put more memory and buy a web cam so it cost me around $100 to see my handsome son. Priceless! LOL Carrie they do earn leave 2.5 days a month so if he has leave he can put in for it to come home. With us going to Italy in May Stephen is saving his leave plus because he is one of the new guys someone has to stay so I think around the hoilidays he would of not gotten leave someone has to work, but yes the sailors can come home. Stephen used 3 weeks of leave after he came home from P-Cola, well he worked a week at the recuiters so he really only used two weeks of leave. Once you download it even you and I can talk you don't have to have a webcam to talk we just will not see each other but anytime we can try it out. Thanks! Glad you don't mind I talk. LOL

Carrie, he has been there since May. It is very hard having him so far away, but it was his choice and he loves it. I do not cry as much as I did. LOL, but I have my moments. Skype is the only thing that keeps me going, when I talk with him I get to see him, he showed me his room and what it looked like outside, that was fun. It will be a year since Stephen Joined the Navy in November, boy times goes fast. What is hard is that he also has his moments and wants to come home, I wish they could come home at least once a year. That is one of the hard part is not knowing when you are going to see them. Glad you are here Carrie!

Oh yes I was very surprise there is no where for our sailors to eat. They do get a food allowance, I think it comes out to $10.00 a day, does that sound right? They have two places to eat on the base and one place is subway and the other is a littel cafe. They can cook in a kitchen but they have to bring their food there and make sure they clean up after them self. They do have a micro-wave in there rooms. I know I have sent Stephen a lot of crystal lite packs for water, he drinks a lot of water and he cannot get them down there. I send him a good box once a month. They are not suppose to cook in there rooms I wanted to send him a George Foremen grill but he said no. He does want to get into trouble (I guess) LOL
