Emily - let us know if you have any questions! I thought your son was also due to arrive in Naples soon. From what I can gather from my son, there's a great group of guys/girls over there. They all look out for one another and travel in groups, which always makes me feel better!!
Welcome aboard Sheryl! Anytime you have a question, just fire away. I seen Max was on his way and actually should be there by now! How exciting for him.
Carrie - Wow! Congratulations Grandma! Wish all the best for Amber and I will keep my fingers crossed for her transfer to the West Coast.
I'd like to welcome Sheryl (Ship 12 Div 312) to the Group. Her Corpsman son will be stationed at the Capo base. Hang in there Sheryl!!
And good afternoon to everyone else! Hope everyone has heard recently from their Sailor's and that everyone is doing good.
I thought that they had extented Ambers time up to a year, so I hope it works out for Jamie. Stephen put in for over 20 different jobs and got turn down on all of them. Where would he want to go after Italy? Most of Stephen's friend had moved on and was not replacing anyone so the hours he has to work were crazy. They waited unitl school was out and transfer all the married sailors first, could not let Stephen go no one to replace him. Yes that is very hard they do make good friends and then they are gone. Stephen had a four year contract, things have really changed since he joined. Yes Stephen loved it too and saw so many wonderful places but he was ready to move on. I glad that Jamie is still loving it, it makes the time go by so much faster.
Oh no, I completely understand. I'm worried Jamie will get extended another year or longer, but he said it's unlikely because he's a corpsman. Not sure that holds much water, but he said he loves it there, but is ready to come back to the States at the end of the year. He has met and become such great friends with everyone over there and has enjoyed the party scene that's for sure! The hard part of being military is you do get close to the people and then they either leave or you leave.. Jamie is coming up on two years in on a five year contract.
I will send some of this warm weather your way!!
Hi Pam, I am doing ok, yes the weather is cold here. Last Friday we had 8inches of snow and then it rained Sunday, what a mess. But that is Chicago for you. I would take your weather, lol Stephen is doing good. He is working, he can take the E5 test in March but I don't know what he is doing. He is very happy to be out of Italy. I told him I was going to buy a sign for the car that said veteran on it and he told me he is still in the Navy (well for another 8 months) Novermber 18th is 4 years and then he said unless he reups, I never heard him say that and I don't really think so but that is all I know. lol How is your son doing? I kind of wish he would stay in but I don't want him overseas anymore, but you don't always get what you want. Stephen should of never been in Italy that long (spending a lot of time in Africia doing things he did not want to do) I wish the Navy would of ok his transfer and he would still be full time. Are you sorry you asked. lololol Have a great day!
Hey Debbie! How are you doing? How is Stephen doing? Is he glad to be out of the military now? My husband only did four active duty years in the army years ago. He just wasn't cut-out to be told what to do all the time.. ha, ha... I see you guys had a little snow but then it all melted! We're having a really mild winter down here. Only about 8 more weeks and then the warmth will be around to stay!
