That's great news Teri!! I'm originally from NW Indiana, right outside of Chicago, so I know only too well what snow and cold can do to you!! Ha, ha... don't miss it at all. The one good thing about cold weather in Georgia is it usually only lasts for a day or two. My sister goes to Minnesota to fish once a year. Beautiful up there.
It almost seems like there was something holding up the packages somewhere along the way. One of the Moms on my Georgia group sent boxes out at the first of October and her son has yet to receive them. He's on a ship though so I guess the rules change.
Enjoy any time you can get seeing Rachel!
Hi Ladies...Found out today that Rachel will be coming back to D.C. for a 6 week class at John Hopkins!!! The class is for inoculations and allergies. We are so excited. It's easier to fly to the east coast then Italy!!! I can't wait to hold her!! Pam... it was 71 today at my house. We live outside of Sacramento in the foothills. We get snow a couple of times a year. I grew up in Minnesota and my Mom still lives there. She has been having a warm fall, Strange weather!!! My Mom sent out two boxes on Monday the 21st and Rachel got them this morning...Go figure Thanks for listening Teri (Rachel's Mom) P.S. She finally got the box I mailed out on the 7th
Rachelsmom - Your daughter sounds like a lot of fun! Jamie really missed his A School buddies because most of them went to FMTB together after A School and really bonded there. I know they still stay in contact via Facebook. There is something about military people and the connection that they make with other military people. It's like a a secret club!! Jamie was at the small clinic until about a month ago and then they sent him to the large hospital to work in radiology. It's always good to move around a little bit. Jamie played rugby of all things! He played football all through middle and high school so I guess it was only natural for him to do rugby. He's never one to sit idle and is always doing something. Needless to say, he wore me out growing up!! Ha, ha...
We had a few snow flakes blowing around in Atlanta today. Crazy weather! It was near 80 over the weekend here and now barely 40!
Rachelsmom I am glad she is loving it, Stephen did too and had seen so many wonderful site and we had a chance to go see him in Naples so that was wonderful. that is the hard part you make friends and move on but you always make new friends. LOL you just keep talking I love to hear how everyones sailor is doing. I love Rome it was wonderful and beautiful. Yes this is a great place to be you can ask questions and get answers and we all have the same feeling and understand because we are all in the same boat.
Pam and Debbie, Rachel is working at the small clinic. She really misses all her "A" school family, but is making plenty of new friends. She said any flier the Navy puts out she is signing up for. She is going caroling and can't carry a tune LOL. She is really making the most of her time there. She went to that concert in Rome and had a blast. She is playing volleyball and will be playing softball in the spring. I'm just happy she is happy. She will become an E-3 this week and she will be taking her petty officer test in the spring. We are so proud of her. Both my girls birthdays are in December, so it's always been birthdays first then Christmas...Not this year. I came home tonight and baked cookies for some of her friends from bootcamp/"A" school and will mail those tomorrow. Rachel loves to bake and it makes me feel close to her :) So thanks for listening to me go on and on tonight. I love Navy moms!!!!
Pam..Rachel went to that concert as well. She had a blast! Just mailed out 5 boxes this afternoon. I ordered her some slippers on Amazon last week and she got those today and I mailed a box out on 11/7 and she still hasn't received that ....
I know Pam airfare is so expensive but if you go over there you will just love it. Stephen was on Capo that is a really small clinic. Stephen does not miss Naples at all but he does his friends but they still talk and fb each other. He worked a double shift at Great Lakes last weekend, he said it brought back memories when he was there. LOL Hope they were good ones. Yes it is good to get the mail out early I would rather he got things early then late. You never know the mail. We went the end of May, we made a stop that brought the price done a lot. Make sure you go to Rome,we took the train and was there for a few days, it is just so nice to be with your sailor that was the best part.
So glad to hear Stephen's doing good Debbie! I was hustling all weekend to get Jamie's package together for Christmas. It is definitely a lesson learned and I will give plenty of time next year for packages to arrive. With his and his brother's birthdays towards the end of November, I always had the mindset to get those taken care of first before I started on Christmas gifts! Have to change up my way of thinking! Other than bummed that he has duty on New Year's Eve, Jamie is doing really good. He Spent some time in Rome last week and attended a concert. They have him working at the hospital at the main base right now instead of the smaller clinic on Capo. He seems to enjoy it. I think he's ready for a visit home though. He left right before New Year's last year and hasn't been back home since. I'm shooting for a visit over there next August. Just waiting on airfare to go on sale.
It is very had to miss the holidays with the kids and birthdays but just remember how great they are doing and how proud we are of them, and when they do get to come home all the hugs we can give them, I have missed 3 years of birthdays and holidays. I don't cry as much as I use too but there are days, it does get easier. It was so wonderful to have Stephen home this Thanksgiving, he had such a wonderfull time being with the family. He worked a double shift at Great Lake last weekend but other wise he is doing great.
How is everyone doing?????
Pam I always sent Stephen a box 3 weeks before, the post office is never open long enough depending what hours they are working so the earlier the better. I am glad you had a change to skype with Jamie, that makes he whole day. How is he doing?
