Thank you so much Debbie and please thank Stephen for me! I am going on a shopping spree this weekend! Jamie was in CA for Thanksgiving last year, but he had duty so had to stay on base. Some of the Soldier's got to go to homes that people opened up to the guys in the military. How nice of them to do that! Camp Pendleton had a huge feast for the guys on base too though, so Jamie got his fill of turkey. He was home for Christmas last year. I really do worry about him this year because I remember being so far from family on the holidays when my husband was in the Army. It's hard.
Thanks again!
Thanks Debbie! Last year on his 21st birthday he was in California going through training with the Marines. Not a perfect way to spend your 21st birthday and he was got really sick from the round of vaccinations they gave him. But we video taped all of us singing Happy Birthday to him and taking a "shot" of liquor and posted it to his Facebook page. Even the baby had a shot of apple juice. Oh, it was soo funny. So, I'm trying to top that one and other than me showing up on his doorstep, I don't think I can.. Ha, ha..
I take it you haven't had any problems shipping to the PSC Box, FPO AE address? I haven't actually tried to order anything online and send it to him, so I might have to do that for his birthday.
Grasshopper I have a friend who sailor went to HA and they did ship his car but I don't know about over seas, your sailor should talk to someone and ask. Sorry I guess I was not much help. Stephen boughts his car down there, we sold his car here.
Debbie - Stephen was on Capo wasn't he? If you could, please ask him if the "kitchen" that apparently is shared by all in the barracks is eqiupped with an oven. Jamie's birthday is next month and I want to send everything for him to make his own cake (one of my fondest memories while he was growing up - the kid would bake!). I'm literally going to send the mixer, pans, cake mix, and money for eggs!! But I want to make sure there's an oven for him to use!!
Funny story - He sent me a message last week and asked me to find him a new comforter under $40. So, I shopped around and found a Tommy Hilfinger comforter on clearance at Marshalls for $20! What a deal right? Well, of course, he wants me to send it priority. It cost me $26 to send it! But I did include a new sheet set I picked up at Target, so it was almost $35 for the entire contents. But I had to laugh because my husband said it was going to cost more to send the darn thing than we paid for it... And luckily it's only a twin size which is much cheaper!!
Yes it is nice and I am cooking for him and he is enjoying food. LOL I went from and empty house to a full house, it is nice.
Everyone have a nice Monday!
