I know Debbie can't stop smiling!!  It's really hard having your kids so far from home.  We're four hours from the nearest beach and get down usually two or three times a year.  Absolutely love the Gulf side!  We do have a boat and get tot he lake quite a bit, but not the same.  I bet the water in Cuba is gorgeous....

Thanks all!  I know it will get better as I adjust to him being there.  I have a real good friend in Kandahar right now that is on his 6th deployment and Devin knows how to reach him if he needs him so that also helps put my mind at ease.

I'm sorry to hear Amber is hating it Carrie, hopefully she will make the best of her weekends and enjoy them.  :0)

Oh, Sharon - Navy Mom (((hugs))) to you.  I can't even imagine how hard that is for you.  Jamie has been talking about deploying to the sand box.  He's a Corpsman also and has been through FMTB so I know it could happen.  But, I won't borrow worry until I have no choice.

Carrie - I seen a post that Amber made on Jamie's wall about loving Fridays now and I understand now why she said that!!  Ha, ha... good for her.  Doing paperwork was one of Jamie's least favorite jobs when he was going through clinicals.

Wow Debbie that is awesome!!  This has been a tough week for me, my corpsman is enroute to Afghanistan as I speak.  One of those cry for no apparent reason weeks - LOL!   Had a wonderful weekend with him up at Ft Dix though and we went to NYC for a couple of days and were able to see the 9-11 Memorial and I got to meet some of his unit so it's all good, just an adjustment!

Carrie - is Amber in Cuba yet?  How is it going for her?

Ok y'all have a great day, just wanted to pop in and say hi!

Well, I hope you stick around Debbie!  You have a lot to offer having had your son over in Italy for so long.  I know Jamie said he will be ready to leave at the end of his period there (currently Dec. '12), not because he doesn't like it, but because he'll be ready for a change.  His attention span is still not very long. Ha, ha..  Might even be interesting to be on a ship and pu into port all over.  He had said a long time ago, that Corpsman on the ships usually have many years in the Navy and have more experience.

We are very happy he is home, has has around two months leave.  He is now station with an airunit that look for subs and blows them up so he will be in a chopper doing IT work, but to get this job and get out of Italy he had to be in the active reserves.  So he is going to look for a job (he is not sure if he wants the job  at Great Lakes) and in a few months if he decides he can go back full time to the Navy but he will not be in Italy anymore.  Yes Pam he was promised to be out of Italy last April, he is not the only one they have extented a lot of people for another year there.  He is very happy and he can go to Great Lakes for trainning which is an hour from us but when he is called out for duty he will fly to Norfolk, VA.  So that is the news, LOL  We are leaving today for MI and the whole family will be together this is going to be wonderful.  Everyone take care and have a good weekend.

Holy Cow Debbie!  I'M in shock!  Did he just not tell you all this was going on until it was final??  I know you mention a while back that he was trying to get the government job.  That's great news since it sounds like it's what he's been trying to achieve!

Well you will never believe it but my son walked into my work today, what a wonderful surprise, and he is not returning to Italy, he is packed and out of Italy, when I get more details I will let you know but he is now in active reserve, he is now connected to a airflight and he was offered an Government job at Great Lakes where our sailors when to book camp, my head is spinning but I will let you know more when I learn more.
