Carrie, Stephen has been to Spain and loved it so thanks for the well wishes.
Hey Debbie! That's very true about the Capo side. There is a central kitchen and grills to use if they want to do a little traveling to cook, but only microwaves in the rooms. Jamie just got back from Barcelona and he said there weren't many tourist things in Barcelona, but a lot of clubs. His attention span at 21 is as far as his next club I guess! LOL. He did tell us he missed "chain" restaurants. Italian food is good, but sometimes you want a variety. Misses Ruby Tuesday's and Applebees! His complaints are minor though and he still loves being over there and has seen so much since December.
Donna - Sunday was the first time Jamie has said anything about it being hot. Normally, it's the usual, 85 and beautiful.
Skype is the best, I could not have lived without see my son on skype and the best part is it is free. Well Stephen is trying to get transfer to Spain. Since they will not let him come state side he thought he would try this. LOL He is also taking the test in Sept., to become an E5 so keep your figures crossed.
Stephen moved out Stevesmom with a friend and he got a girlfriend and that did not work out so well so he move back on base, so now he rolls out of bed and walks to work. The rooms are small and no where for them to eat, just a microwave if he lives on Capo. South Side is the bigger base.
Hi Carrie, Pam, Sharon. How is everyon doing?
We got to skype with our son on Sunday. It wasn't the greatest connection, but I'll take a blurry Jamie any day! He said they have a heat wave going on over there. Hot and humid. He also said that the Italians take the month of August off, so the clubs were quiet. How funny!
Well I don't know about other AF bases but I work at MacDill in Tampa pretty frequently and it's a beautiful base and everyone there seems pretty darned happy to be there :0)
My son is in training at Ft Dix in NJ right now which is Army and he says it's ok, has a lot of groundhogs! LOL
