I know your excited Sharon! I would be jumping with joy! I actually talked to Jamie this morning because I posted on his Facebook that I'd ENJOY a call! Ha, ha... I got the yes, Mother. It's good to hear his stories though. Apparently had to clear an ear canal today. Not a good thing - yuck!
This will be my first trip to Daytona! We usually stay somewhere from Panama City Beach to Pensacola, but I'm in the mood to change it up this year. Last year we stayed at Navarre Beach and the sea grass was so bad. Has a way of getting into every little crack and crevice. Ha, ha... We have stayed on Tybee Island, off the coast of Georgia and I love that quaint little barrier island. Not commercialized at all. But, my husband is a people person and likes the flash. Me, give me a quiet end of the beach to set up my chair and umbrella with a good book and I am good!!
What part of the Gulf Side do you live on?
Pam - where do you stay while in Daytona? Love the ocean, we live on the gulf side which I love, but every now and then I just have to get over to the east coast and get my feet in the ocean :0)
Doreen - glad you heard from your son! Is he at Capo or the support side, do you know yet?
28 days and my sailor will be home! Whoot whoot!! :0)
Carrie - You sound like me!! We just got back from a four night camping trip to South Georgia and although I was miserable with the heat, we had a great time. That's not to say I want to do it again anytime soon! We're doing our annual beach trip to Daytona this year in August. Yep, hot as heck, but I'll be in the pool!!
Doreen - so glad you heard from him. I know that puts your mind at ease.
Hi Debbie! Hope you guys are starting to warm up there! My sister spent the last two weeks of April down here and then went back to chilly temperatures in May up there. She was not a happy camper!
Dorren, don't worry when the travel they cannot always call. When Stephen left for Naples, he missed all of his flights. The first flight was late, so he arrived in Naples 2 days late, the Navy was calling my house, looking for him. LOL So is he there and what bases is he on. Stephen is on Capo that is the small base. Support side it bigger and is for families and corpsman. He is going to love it there, try not to worry.
Hi ladies, how is everyone doing?
Hi Doreen! It took about two or three days before I got a quick "I'm here" email from my son. The time difference takes a while to get used to. If he has a laptop, they have an internet cafe that he can use but it closes pretty early. That's how we first heard from our son.
Welcome to the Group!
Carrie that is wonderful, good for her. Yes it is good for them to go somewhere else. That is why the Navy should be moving on to their next base. Keep me updated.
Thanks Pam, now hopefully she can find a job. Times are so hard out there.
All good here Debbie! Congrats to your daughter! One of those emotional moments for us Moms.
Carrie - Sometimes a change of scenery can do a world of wonder! Nights are not easy, that's for sure.
