Whats going on who is going to Gitmo?  Stephen was telling me that in June they will start to move the families out to new bases they wait until the kids are done with school and maybe then Stepen will hear whats going on with him.  I think if he has to stay they should just tell him he has to stay, he is not sure what is going on.

How is everyone doing?  My daughter graduated Sunday so it was a fun weekend.

It's the Mom in us.  :)   That's funny about the dogs because I got my dog after going for nearly six years without one.  This was a year before I had Brooke and the dog was my baby.  Spoiled rotten little pound puppy is what she really is!!  But she's my welcome home party every night I get home from work since Brooke is usually in bed already.  So funny!!

Have a great weekend everyone!  We're heading to a lake in North Georgia to watch a wake boarding contest.

Awwww, that is sweet Pam!  I would have had more, actually begged hubs to adopt when the youngest was getting ready to graduate HS, he told me I was out of my mind!  Hence I now have 9 dogs.  I just need someone/something to take care of!  LOL

I can only imagine how hard it would be seeing kids in that environment..  My husband and I were talking of adoption when I ended up getting pregnant with my daughter, so I'm sure Jamie would send me a list also!  We had Jamie and his brother when we were in our early twenties, so it was hard when, in a blink of an eye they were grown and we were barely 40.  I had c-sections for all three, so there was definately no more for me.  However!! Now we'll be mid-50s when Brooke graduates from High School.  She's such a delight though.  Just this morning, she came into the kitchen and told me that she missed Jamie and loves her brother.  Yep, tears!

Dev gets called to OBGYN when there's a c-section.  Totally blows my mind the surgeries my kid gets to be involved in, no idea how he can do it!  He has a real soft spot for kids too, when he was in Haiti after the earthquake he had a list of little ones he thought we should adopt!  :0)

Jamie would love to be in the OBGYN ward.  I had his sister when he was 16 so he's been babyfied!  He's really good with kids and will make a wonderful father one day - hopefully many years down the road.  I bet that water is very warm!  You might have to search on here and see if they have a Gitmo Group.

Carrie - sounds like she will be on the same schedule as Devin!  He leaves in August and goes back to Naples last of April/first of May and is there until Dec 2012.  The OBGYN ward is going to be missing them both!  Devin is on that ward fairly often  :0)

That is such a bummer Carrie...  One of the Corpsman that Jamie went through A School with will also be headed to Cuba in the next few months.  That will be his duty station though.  He said that they're not even allowed to leave the base there.  I can't remember if you told me this or not, but is Amber a Corpsman also?
Comment by Sharon P.M. on May 20, 2011 at 2:16pm

Carrie - if it is a deployment to Guantanamo they are almost always given a pre-deployment leave.  Devin is coming home for the first 2 weeks of July for his pre-deployment leave.  He leaves Italy in August too for his deployment but when he is done he goes back to Naples, doesn't Amber's time in Naples end this Nov/Dec?  The flight home in July was $1200+ which in my opinion is really sucky, you'd think they'd offer a better discount to our military!

Bummer to be so close yet so far from each other for Amber and Justin!  :0(

Try not to be too bummed, you're not in this one alone, my house is going to be quiet for the holidays as well, we will just have to get very creative with our care packages!  Hugs!

If someone would have told me two years ago that I would not be see my child in person or be able to give him a hug for five months, I would have said they were crazy!!  Well, Jamie has been in Italy nearly five months and as much as I like skype, it's just not the same.  I can't even begin to think how it feels to have one deployed.  I know in the back of my mind it's a possibility my son will be deployed, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.  And I'm the short timer here!!  You guys are talking siblings that haven't seen each other in years!  Crazy.
