Carrie that would be so awesome if they get to see each other!  There's 4 years between Devin and his older brother and they are very close, we're hoping he will come home from AL at least for a couple days when Dev is here.  43 days till he's home for a pre-deployment visit!  Excited about the visit, not so much the deployment!

Carrie - wouldn't that be great!!  That's a long time to go without seeing one another.

Good morning to all!  Just popping in to say Hi!  Hope all and their Sailor's are well.

Carrie that would be so much fun if you could go.  Stephen says the weather is nice over there, so that is good to hear.  Busy at work, they do put in long hours.  Still have not heard if he is staying in Italy or not yet.  Have a great week.  Hope everyone is well.

Sorry Pam maybe I knew that and I forgot.  I know most of your sailors are on support Side.  Where is Jamie, I wonder if he is anywhere Stephen is.  Or so Corpsman and It don't talk. LOL  Only kidding!

Hard to keep them all straight sometimes Debbie!  Jamie has been pulling a lot of duty since some of the support is now taking the EMT course.

Another thing to remember about packages is you have to send them Priority.  I made the mistake of sending a fairly large box regular mail and it took six weeks to get there!  I guess they sit in one of those containers until it's full and then literally shipped on a slow boat over there.  I stressed a little bit since it was a $300 game system, not to mention some food items.  In fact, Jamie e-mailed me this morning that he had finally gotten this box.  I asked him if the food was rotten and he laughed and said , nope - eating the Reese's eggs now and they are GOOD!  Most of the food stuff I send is non-parishable.  But, boys will just about eat anything!

That's funny about it being hot.  We're in Georgia and Jamie said it was still a pretty chilly 70 degrees!!

Do not insure your packages either, once the military gets it, it is no longer insurance. Stephen has always gotten everything also.

Pam I did not know you son was at Capo we need to get our boys together.

I know they were having problems in HA that other sailors were stealing from other sailors, that is really sad isn't it.

Welcome Abunz!!  My son is also a coprsman, but is stationed on Capo, the smaller base.  He's only been there since Dec. 28, not that I'm counting or anything!  He spent the first two weeks getting briefed on how to do things there and then he started his EMT course which took about 8 weeks to finish.  Let us know if you have any quetions.

Happy Mother's Day to Everyone!!  My laptop died on me so I haven't been on too much.

Thanks Ladies again for your comments and all the information. I heard from him at 4:00am that he had made it. He says it is too hot there ;-} We live in Juneau AK where it rarely hits 70 and usually is between 50-60 in the summer time. Also we are in a rain forest ssoo it rains alot. He said everyone has been very nice and he is starting to get excited. I think he was way nervous but very sad about leaving his friends.Thank you again and everyone enjoy your Mother's Day!

Abunz - go ahead and edit or remove your last post, not supposed to put our kids last names on this site, OPSEC rules.  On the shipping, what we have found is just use the FPO address that your son gives you and never, never ever put Naples, Italy on the shipping label.  The FPO is all that is needed, if you put Naples on the address lable it will wind up in a Naples post office and that is where the problems occur.  The post office has medium sized boxes for troops that ship for a flat rate of $12.50, you'd be surprised out how much you can cram into them :0)  John is going to have such a great adventure!  I will have Devin look for him as well :0)
