Wow - they are beautiful Debbie!  Someone raised their boy right :0)

That is so sad that Stephen had a crappy sponsor, Devin's was great, they've even become friends.  Thanks for the prayers, we're going to need them!  54 days and he'll be home, can you tell I'm excited?

Y'all have a great Mother's Day!  Hugs!

Guess who gave me these?

Pam, kids, what are we going to do with them. LOL

Sharon I am so glad he is coming home.  The other news is kind of hard.  I will keep him in my prays and thoughts, I do for all of our sailors.  He will see so many wonderful things I bet and learn so much. Keep us updated with Dev, ok!  How are you holding out?

Welcome Abunz, my son is an IT over there on Capo. He is going to love it, my son does.  He will see so many exciting places. Now you can plan a vacation to go see him, best of luck to him.

LOL Carrie!

My son did not have a good sponor, he was luck to have a friend down there who showed him the rope, he sponor did not even show up to meet  him at the airport so hopefully his sponor is much better.

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day!  May be all hear from our sailors.

Abunz - my son is there and is a Corpsman on support side too!  He and Amber are good friends so tell him to look for Devin too, although he will be leaving in August for a deployment but will be returning in April.

Once your son gets there his sponsor will pcik him up and take him to dinner, a many course meal and usually several others from his department will be there too.  When my son got there he was thrilled to see there were people he actually knew from A-school there!  They will keep him up as late as possible so that it is easier for him to get used to the time difference too.  He will be quite busy getting settled in and they have classes to take on the local customs, laws etc. and it will be several weeks before he gets to actually get to work but it is all necessary for his well being.

If you don't already have it, get skype and a camera on you computer.  Skype is free and you can get one of those clip on cameras for like $25 at Walmart.  It is free to skype on the computer and they can even skype to a phone but that costs some money but is very cheap in comparison to regular phone.  I hear a lot of folks talk about the magic jack too but we've done well with skype.

Send little things from home that you son likes, pictures, a favorite pillow, anything to make him feel comfortable.  If he is staying in barracks, I'm not sure about the other side but at the support side it is kind of like a college apt there are 2 sailors each with their own room and they share a bathroom and a kitchenette.  They have to be an E4 I believe before they can live off base and also have to be there for a little while too.  My son chose to stay on base rather than go off base to save $$ and the barracks are literally right across the street from the hospital so he walks to work.

I hope your son loves it there and takes advantage of his time off to see Europe, I know my son has been to so many wonderful places, it's been a great experience for him!

Gosh am I long winded or what?  LOL

Just put my son on the plane from Juneau AK to start his journey to Naples Italy. He is a hospital corpsman. Any tips that I can pass on to my son would be most helpful.

Hey y'all!  Well good news here is Dev is coming home for 2 weeks in July, not so great news, he leaves in August to deploy to Kandahar Air Field Trauma Unit in Afghanistan and will be there until April of 2012.  Then he will go back to Naples until Dec 2012 and from there who knows?  He is excited about it, mom, not so much!

Such is the roller coaster ride we call being military parents!  Hope everyone is well and has a nice Mother's Day weekend!  :0)

You know Debbie - I sent him that summons two weeks ago and he sent me an email yesterday to please call them for him!  Geez!

Hope everyone's week is going great!

LOL Pam is he going!!! LOL  Glad everyone had a nice Easter. I missed Stephen too but I think I am getting use to it, I cannot believe I am saying that but we have missed so much together. I love the ears on the bunny, you should of taken them Pam.

Hi Carrie!

Hope the Easter Bunny fed everyone well - too bad my husband and I decided chocolate in moderation is the only way for us anymore.  Darn.  Really wanted that Ear!  Ha, ha...

Had to laugh, Jamie received a summons for Jury Duty in our county...  I sent it to him and he'll have to take it from there.  Has that ever happened to anyone on here?
