Pam - I get the names mixed up on the bases too, I just know my son is at the big hospital, he works in OR, and he knows Amber too he sees her whenever he goes in for C-sections, tells me she's very sweet! Devin was sent there Dec 18th last year, was there long enough for all of the orientation (there's A LOT) and then deployed to Haiti for 3 months! Once he got back to Naples his job was changed, he was originally sent there to work with an eye surgeon but after being in Haiti they decided he should do the OR as he did well under pressure and with some really gruesome surgeries. At first he was kind of disappointed but now he really loves it. He has been in on all kinds of surgeries. And with skype it almost feels like he's not so far away! He'll be coming home in December for the holidays, I can't wait!

Thanks for the welcome - I have seen the Corpsman Mom's and Dad's group. He's finishing up schooling and graduates Sept. 29. Thankfully no more tests, just clinicals to finish. Most have been put on hold for a couple of weeks before they are sent home for leave so he should be heading to Italy around the first part of November. He said he will be at a clinic in Capadachino (sp?). He is so excited!!

Pam, welcome! The ladies on here are great. Robin is always such a great help. I am very excited for your son he is going to love Naples. Carries' daughter is on a different base then my son, he is a IT and works underground on computers and just loves it. Ask questions and we will do the best answering them. Amber and my son Stephen are friends we will have to get your son together with out kids. LOL They just love when we do that. LOL

Robin, where is Mayport in FL? I think that is one of Stephen's choices. You just have the best time and hug her and hug her.

Carrie, I want to go with you so badly!!!

Hey all! Popping in to see how everyone is doing! All going well on my front! Love that the hurricanes are all turning north, living in FL on the coast is like living on pins and needles for the months of Aug - Oct when the hurricane season really kicks in! Pam - my son is at the big hospital in Naples, he's a surgical tech and when he got his orders it was for 3 years, so it does happen! He LOVES it there, has traveled all over the place and seen so many things! Not to mention the experience he's had in the OR! He will be home for Christmas and then hubs and I will be heading over there for 3 weeks next September! Hope all are well, happy to hear that boat is coming in early Robin! Be safe, take care, will check in again soon!
Pam - have you checked in to the Corpsman Mom & Dads page? VERY active, chatty group! :0)

Well it looks like I have joined the right group!! How exciting for you. We skype all the time, but your right about it not being the same. Sometimes you just want to reach out and give them a big 'ole hug. How long is her tour? Jamie thought at first he would be there three years, but then he said it may only be two. He's just now getting all the information on overseas duty, so I may have a ton of questions.

Thanks Carrie!! Can't wait to see the next step in his Naval Career. Have you visited your daughter in Italy?

Hi there!! New to the group. My son graduates Corpsman school on September 29 (12 days, not that I'm counting or anything!) and has picked orders to go to Naples, Italy!! No "official" orders have been posted yet but they spent Monday and Tuesday briefing him on going overseas. Needless to say, for that 20 year old, he's beyond excited!!

Hi Robin, still has those darn stones, he had to go back to get more medicine, I fell bad for him, the doctor told him it usually takes 3 weeks and this would be the third week so we will see.

YEA!!!!!!!!!! HOMECOMING!!! Please take lots of pictures and have a great time. You better take a lot of kleenex.

Carrie I was just thinking of that today. Boy I am so jealous, I would just love to go see Stephen again and spend time with him. You are going to have the best time. Keep me updated. I am glad you had a nice vist with your son even tho it was short.

Stephen has recieved his new list for his new base so we talked about it yesterday and he is going to put in for five so hopefully he will get one this time.

Hi Robin!

LL Robin, give her a squeeze for me too.LOL I am just so excited for you. I am not sure where they will send him. He did tell me they will not do anything for him for 6 to 7 weeks, that is a long time to be on pain medicine I think. He cannot drive with all the medicine he is taking, he will be fine, just wish he could pass those darn stones. I will have to ask him if they can take care of him there. When this happen his medicial building was closed a friend drove him to support side. Hey if he could go o Germany, that would not be too bad. LOL Take pictures when you go to see your daughter ok, I would love to see them.
