they have a van on base that  will take them anywhere they want to go it cost $10 per person each way  most of them start out that way ...or they  pile in a taxi and split it to go to the riverwalk...  good luck  to your son ...and to your daughter Amom :)

Hi everyone in SA. My son's PIR from boot camp was 8/26. I'm alittle late getting on here cause my computer crashed for weeks. Hated buying a new one but the it is awsume Skyping with my son. His OC spray was an experience. He said it hurt like Hell but took it like a Sailor! Although he had no reflash in the shower that night, he screamed like the devil to scare the other guys. He loves a little joke once in a while.

He can't leave the base til the weekend of 9/30 and his girlfriend is flying out that friday. Does anyone have any suggestions of the least expensive way for them to get around? Is the taxis the best or is there something else. He did find a free shuttle to and from the airport that he will accompany her on, but i hear that the taxis's are expensive. She is a few months shy of legal age to rent a car and he cant drive at all in a-school.

Good luck to everyone's Sailor that has to get that damn OC spray.

My son's graduation from A-School is Oct.21

Hey Navymom5243 My son is there also.  He gets the spray tomorrow as well.  But other than that he has had only positive things to say.  He said he has made some really good friends!

Schafam, I wish we could go for the pinning but my husband started a new job this week so we can't. He did say he would have someone take pictures for us with his phone. He is Reserves so he will be home on Saturday. We live in the St Louis, mo area and there is a reserve center here.. I just got off the phone with him and is excited and nervous both about coming home, says he's all packed and ready to go! His boss he had before he left for boot was kind enough to save his job for him, so he has a job to come to, that's why he is nervous because he is used to the military way of things and doesn't know how well he will be able to handle working with civilian people. He'll be fine just take some getting used to..
Navy mom, thank you! My son says the same about everyone there, how mice they all are and they have made him feel like family since day he arrived.
He wants me to find out what all of your sons names are he says he probably knows them,if you want to send me a friend request on here I can let him know their names..

Hi PeruvianMiami, I guess we will both find out this weekend how they survived.  I asked me son earlier this week if he bought his baby shampoo, yogurt and milk.  He said he was going to do it..I hope he did...
