FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

@schafam, My son and I text at least once everyday. My son has mentioned the heat also, but we are from Missouri and the humidity and temps are usually really high during the summer and he said that even though it's hot in SA, the humidity is really low so it's bearable for him.

Yes I had a wonderful weekend talked to my Sailor twice.  Still trying to get used to the fact that there is actually an open line of communication.  He is liking San Antonio, aside from the 102 temp Friday is OC spray day

PNM--thanks for telling what the letters mean I went brain dead for minute remembered the first letter but forgot the rest.  I must be getting old lol!!!

OMG , MRE's he will love that , it will remind him of 3rd grade when he ate them with his best bud ( his friends father was in the national guard )

Meals in a bag.  My older son got them when he was in the National Guard.  They are designed to be eaten when they are about.

My son said the written test wasn't too hard. They get MRE's to eat after everyone gets sprayed because they can't go into the cafeteria with that spray on them. He did say the MRE that he got was pretty good. Lol
