For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Diane! Looks like we made it to the next step! Hope you enjoyed your weekend with your son. I was so impressed with how nice all of our division was. Every Sailor Matthew introduced me to was great!
I'm hoping the storm doesn't delay their departure. I am anxiously awaiting to the first phone call so I can ship him his phone, it will be nice to talk to them more regularly! Matthew was saying there were several MA's in 058 & 057 and that they would class up quickly. He said they would be graduating on Mar 25.
I'm thinking San Antonio in March will be much nicer than Chicago in January, lol!

My son waited 2 weeks after arriving to SA to class up. He stayed busy and it allowed him to decompress after bootcamp. He also got to know everyone and get into the routine. The one rule that our family has learned with the Navy is patience and to enjoy the the ride and the place you are in. He graduates Feb 11th and will be home Feb 12 th. He is Reserve so we can't wait to see which college he chooses for Fall semester and how and where his Reserve duty will take him. He left for bc Sept 27th. It has flown by.

K-town, there is a HUGE difference. They are allowed things like cell phones and computers. After a while they are allowed off base for periods at a time as they phase up.

Cris,
My son is still in BC at GL, but has already hinted at wanting an overseas post. We have spent the last 5 years living overseas and will move back this summer. I know my son loves living overseas, but the idea of him moving here just as we move back is driving me nuts. He has a couple older sisters in the US and we can't be closer to them again. I will really be sad if we all end up there and he ends up back here. We will only find out where we are going just a few weeks before he finds out.

Hey ladies!! My son is in A school now and will graduate Feb 25th anyone else with Sailor with that date? He has been going through weapons training last week and this week? They got to leave the base for the first time last Sun. Hope all is well with your sailors. My Sailor wants to be in the MWD division, I think he will have an interview next week for that . Any extra Prayers would be welcomed!!

My daughter will see her orders this coming monday. She is in a small class about 32. She said to cut that in half because half of her class is reserve and then shes about half way point in class rating so will make her about positition 8 to pick. Right now its all she can think about. Its all I can too! When she told me that she was about middle ranked in her class I thought that was about 16. My daughter wants to go overseas (pass the paperbag please can feel the panic attach coming on). Ive tried to raise her to not fear the unknown. That it limits lifes experiences. Now Im the one afraid.

DebBee I know in the spring he has it bad here with Allergy's. He got to pick his duty station yesterday. He is going to Hawaii. He was number 9 in his class so he was the 9th one to pick and he got the last Hawaii. I guess we will have to suffer and go and visit him.

We recieved a call a few nights ago and my son may be going to Georgia or Washington state. Still has 6 weeks of A chool to finish first.
Wondering if anyone knows the routine for this duty post...sounds like top level security with very limited communication to the outside world.
