She won't be allowed to take anything back on to the base in Great Lakes. If she is grad and go, you can bring things to her at the airport. She is allowed just about anything at A school. She has to phase up before she is allowed off base in civilian clothes, though.

Houston????? Some Navy moms are meeting at Cheddar's in Spring on December 4th at noon. Your mom, brother and his family are welcome to join us. We are eating then heading to Old Town Spring to do some shopping.

Ditto for me also. My daughter will have PIR next Friday. Don't know exactly date for San Antonio - should be right after. I would like to know if she will have time off for Christmas? If so, how long. My mom is bugging me about it because they want to have her there for Christmas - she and my brother and his family live in Houston. Also, what is daughter allowed to have there? She wants me to bring up all kinds of things for PIR in Great Lakes. (Going up for PIR). Thank you!

Hi All; I'm relatively new to this group; I had to get through PIR first which was on 11/24/10. She leaves for San Antonio on 11/30/10. Starting a new phase. Any tips, advice, etc I could get, would appreciate it.

Well thank you very much Brenda. I might keep you in mind when it is time for him to fly home after graduation. =)

Well, just so everyone knows. I live about 5 hours from San Antonio and Houston is on my way . . . so, IF I CAN. I don't mind running down there and bringing anyone to the Houston airport!

Does anyone have any information on graduation in SA? I know the date, but what time, location, etc? I've asked my son to check on the info, but I don't know how long it will actually take him to remember to ask!
Comment by Brenda Sue on November 22, 2010 at 12:23am
Yep, you will have to pay for his flight. The Navy only pays for flights to duty stations and home from duty stations when the "time" is over. If he comes home before - you pay.

Hello everyone. My Sailor just arrived at A school and it sounds like he is really enjoying the freedom following boot camp. He is trying to decide whether or not to come home for the holidays or wait till A school graduation, if he comes home are we paying for the flight? I should probably search the navy site for regulation and suggestions?
