Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Your message came through my email this morning, I am not sure how often people respond to messages here. I have had better luck with the FB pages below. My daughter has been in the Navy for 5 years and most of her time in SD. However not on a ship. I hope this is helpful.

Comment by eBearFlorida on November 15, 2019 at 9:03am: Eventually my son will be in San Diego. Whenever the Navy decides the Lincoln can leave the Middle East. Can anyone give me an idea of what his living situation will be like since he is assigned to the carrier? Will he be living on the carrier while in port in San Diego, eating there, have time off, etc? There is plenty of info about living on the ship while on deployment but not a lot about while they are in port.

Can't wait to hear what everyone has learned from their sailors!

i am new to this group. My son graduated from boot camp about three weeks ago. He is in A school training in Chicago now and will be leaving in a couple weeks. He then has about ten days leave, then goes to San Diego. We are unsure of the details of how he gets to San Diego. Do we book him a flight from home to San Diego ourselves or is this done through the navy somehow? If anyone knows how all this works it would be greatly appreciated.

I was told that North Island is very Nice, nothing like 32nd ST. So according to what I heard he really lucked out. Been on Coronado and it was a very nice place. But really excited to see the base and all. Thanks Oleander.

Comment by Oleander on February 7, 2018 at 5:09pm: I've seen the Roosevelt several times while visiting SD, fantastic! Each ship may have has it's own protocol/rules but we were even able to go on board just prior to deployment while the Marines were reporting and loading equipment. Of course you need to be accompanied by your sailor and he'll probably want to get acclimated for awhile. But it's even fun to watch all the activity going in and out of the bay! Never been to the Coronado base - maybe now that she's home we'll get the chance!

He will be reporting to the USS Roosevelt CVN 71. I believe a Aircraft Carrier. Now this is according to him/Sea Duty. So he is just waiting he said. And Yes I would love too take a tour on it how do you go about that? Even though say they are having Duty watch and working on it, you can tour?
