RCU SHIP 04 DIV 741

Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Congrats Paces! I know he's thrilled to have just a little more freedom.

My sailor got to go to Chicago with others this past weekend. Ate deep dish pizza and went to a downtown mall. He said he enjoyed seeing the girls! ha! He also got to sleep in until 8am on Sunday & watch his first NFL game this year. He was in hog heaven. He's put in for leave after Christmas to come home... wish him luck!

Thanks. He is hoping to be able to come home for New Year's, so we aren't planning to go there. He sounded so good. He said he was alright now, He could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for the prayers. He is not out of the woods yet. He still has a long way to go, but I know a lot of the stress is gone.

Merry Christmas.

@paces: Yeah CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a wonderful Christmas gift...Are you thinking about going up there now for the holiday?? Either way how wonderful..You have to keep us posted. Prayers he gets the clearance soon but so much better to be in THU :-)

We just got the "I'm a sailor" call. He wasn't able to call or write because they were working with him to get him through his PFA and Battle Stations. He made it yesterday. He will be in THU on medical hold though until the doctors say he can run 5 miles on the leg. If he wasn't Spec Ops, they would have let him have his orders. He will have to train for a while until they say he is ready.

CoastalKat... He is with your son. He has liberty this week. Ours said the same as yours about walking without supervision. What a wonderful Christmas present.

Everyone... Thank you for all the prayers. We will continue to pray and support your SR's as you wait on that call as well. Merry Christmas!!

phillies... Great news. I know she is ecstatic.  We will continue to pray for her recovery. I am anxious about seeing ours. It is pushing 4 months now.

sbarber... Don't apologize. It is good to hear something about our everyday lives. We have had extremely warm weather for this time of year. We have stayed in the 40's to 60's and we are usually in the 20's to 40's. We might get snow twice a year and it is usually only about an inch or two at the most.  It is funny how our perspective changes and what we are grateful for when adversity arises.

I wish for you all a great weekend. Praying for a call tomorrow. It is so hard not knowing. This is the longest we have been without a letter or call since he has been in RCU. A little concerned.

@paces: I was relieved it wasn't Guam or somewhere over sea's after all off this RCU stuff I wasn't ready for that :-) We are from Texas but we have crazy winters here I had to send pictures to family in October when it snowed we have had 3 snows already :-( another on the way Monday UGH.... I hope you and your SR all the best and I hope RCU is over very soon for you guy's. And thanks for being happy for me I'm over the moon but trying not to like rub it in you know. I spent 2 hours at the laundry mat tonight washing and drying his comforter dang that thing is big took forever to dry. ENOUGH SORRY!!!

@Phillies: That's great news!! I am sure it gave her quite a lift in spirits. Isn't it crazy the change in them in such a short time. I was the only one in our family that picked him right out LOL but that's my job LOL. Prayers for your daughter and her speedy recovery.

My SR has made it to phase 3. The put her on "accelerated" meaning she will start with 6 laps instead of 2. That is great news for her. She sounds like she is starting to see the light at the end of this long tunnel. I received her division's picture. She sure has changed since we saw her last. A bit thinner and lost her tan :)

sbarber...Wonderful news. I know you will be so glad to see him. I have a nephew close by I think. They love it there. It is funny because he is used to the South's weather. Very different climate. I know he probably won't see much of it, if he is out.  I imagine he is excited.

We haven't heard any news. No call, no letter. We are still patiently waiting. We are probably looking toward New Year's at best.

@Paces: LOL we all have a bond not many will know (thankfully). My son got out of RCU in late Aug. he is getting ready to come home for Christmas and got his papers this week he will be stationed in Bremerton Washington on the SSGN Ohio Blue 726 (Sub) My thoughts and prayers are always with the families here. Wishing all of you the best. Fair winds and following seas.
