OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Thanks for the information about Tyler I really have been thinking about him and his poor grandma. Let me know what Colten finds out I'd appreciate it.

He has to have surgery on his arm and hand but he chose to have it done at home. Not sure when that will take place. I will ask Colten tonight when I talk to him.

I can tell you there is nothing better than getting to see Colten everyday and talk to him everyday!!!! HooYah!!!

Comment by paces on November 14, 2011 at 9:45pm: Oh, I hope not. I am looking forward to a call on Sunday. Our SR has been writing though. We usually get our letter on Thursday. Although, this past week we didn't get it until Friday. What Phase is your SR? Ours just went into Phase 2. Much quicker than we thought, but he still has a long way to go.

The unknown is what is hard when our love one's are in the RCU. And as parents or spouses we just want to hug them when they are down for any reason.
