It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Good evening ladies. I feel your pain and disappointment. It is so hard not hear from them and not knowing what the doctors are saying. If I remember correctly, they were not always allowed to call when they phased up, but if they talk to the doctor they are usually granted a call home. We will continue to pray for your SRs and your families. Hugs and Prayers. Susan

Thank you again Mom&Dad4MattJ! I always appreciate your input as you have been through all of this! JaneWilliams - my son said he 'should' be able to call me when he phases up, but I guess it's not always. I hope I hear from him this week as it was hard to miss that call on Sunday. We are spoiled that they are in RCU, if he was in boot, I wouldn't be getting as many calls!

Sometimes, if the Yoeman on duty will give them a phone pass. No set rule though that we could figure out.

My question is Do they get to call when they phase up?

Hello CT Mom I do not know if our boys know each other, but I hope that they do. My SR has not mentioned any names in his letters. My SR is in RCU for stress fractures in both legs. He hopes to phase up soon. I hope we get phone calls this week. He has been really good at sending letters to me. My Srs letters are positive, so that is a good sign. Hoping we all get calls this week.

Hi ladies, just thought I would chime in given our experience for the past 10+ weeks spent in RCU.  Yes, there are weekends where you do not get phone calls for one reason or another. Weather certainly does have a part in it. Also, for some reason, if one division (say the girls) do something Stupid...EVERYONE pays.

On one instance a female recruit snuck in a banned item into  the compartment..  That created trouble for EVERYONE, plus she was separated.  Hopefully letters will come for all of you, or even a call later this week.. which is not unheard of.

God Bless you all, RCU Recruits and Moms will always be in our prayers.

Next stop for us  Pensacola.

I am so sorry to hear you did not get phone calls. I know how hard that is. We will pray they get to call mid-week. Keep the faith. It is good when they can make friends and acquaintances in RCU. It is a bond that tends to hold because of the trials they go through. Other recruits have no idea and cannot understand. Just as with the Moms. They don't understand what the mothers are going through when their SR is in RCU. Continuing to pray for you all. Hugs and Prayers, Susan

I was hoping he would call tonight...but no luck. Yes, I'm hoping for one day this week if he phases up. :(
