It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Rest, physical therapy.. Most likely Doc will do labs to make sure Calcium, Vit D and magnesium levels are good. May start him on vitamins.

anneandphil....Keeping your SR in our prayers with all the others. Haven't heard of anyone with a shoulder dislocation. Don't know how long that one takes. Hugs and Prayers to everyone.

AIT Is Advance in Training.. meaning a recruit can do some training within the limitations of his current disability.

Comment by paces on January 16, 2013 at 6:47pm

anneandphil....I don't know what AIT is? That is a new term for me. We were here for nearly a year and I am not familiar with that. I do know that Phase 3 begins physical therapy and they begin to work back into a unit. It is usually about 2-4 weeks long. It depends on how your SR is recovering. I hope I helped.

Thank you ladies. I have been sending him mail every single day. I emailed a bunch of family & friends and they are all sending get well cards. I ripped out some pages of a word search book and mailed those so it would be in a regular envelope inside a card. It's in God's hands and whatever will be, will be...

JaneWilliams & Anneandphil - I'm new to this as well. Our son can call us when he has finished a doctor appointment (Tuesday's) and on Sunday's. I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone. Sunday's seem to be the norm for sure. The women on this site are incredibly helpful and supportive. You will get most, if not all of your answers here. We are all in this together and we all know how the other one feels. Wishing all the best to your future sailor's.

Will I get a call after he sees the doctor?
