It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Hmmm...Tea3...maybe we're supposed to meet each other. :) We plan on going to GL even if our son has a private capping ceremony. We cannot stand the thought of his being "free" for even a few hours and our not being there to visit with him and buy his supper. :)
Well, Jolene, that is when my son is supposed to graduate as well. I know just what you mean, my husband and I talked, after we got the bad news call, saying how there must be some reason these things happen and only God knows the plan. He has it all worked out. Hope you feel better and let me know when, for sure, your boy gets to graduate.
That is interesting. My son asked for news as well. Any news, so there you go. I am going to do the same thing I tried sending a newspaper this morning....it was small as we are from a smaller town, but it was still too bulky, so I am going to find the news and print it as you have, Jolene.
Angel, I almost bought a magazine today, but then was afraid I would send it and he would get in trouble, so am going back to printing and sending stuff. It will have to do. He said they could receive manila sized envelopes, so will try that a few times. I can stuff a lot of articles in there for him. Right now I am going to read thru these 144 pages and see if I can get all my questions answered. Jolene....I like your pic! :) How long does it make it for your son being in boot camp?
Welcome to the group. My son was in "Fit", but has long since moved on in his Navy life. I don't have the answer to what they do all day, but many people have written here that they can have a book, I don't want to give bad information, so I will leave that up to someone who does know.
I just want to let you know that you and your sr's are in my prayers. This is a great group of people to help guide you and pray with you.
Remember this - it is so much harder for us than it is for them. they have all of the information on day to day and we just go crazy. Stay strong and always believe.
I received a call from my SR that he dislocated his shoulder during IT. He won't be graduating with his division and will be at GL an additional 6-8 weeks. Does anyone know are they given more time to write letters or make any additional phone calls since they are not doing BC things?
Thank you sammy, I will give it a try. I am also wondering what do the SR's do all day every day in this unit? Are they allowed to work out or swim to keep up their strength? He said he was bored.....
