It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Hopefully, we'll be getting the sailor call later today. Brion will be moving to THU for a bit then onward to Groton.
Cajunmom, the staff at RCU will help your SR get in shape; they are the best! The Doctors, PO's and support staff will do all that is humanly possible to keep your son on the team. You need to keep sending him letters and cards showing your love and support for his chosen vocation.. you can help keep him focused that way. My prayers go out to you and your family. Hang in there!

My son has been at Boot camp for two weeks and I received a call this morning from him. He stated that he hurt his back and they discoverd that he has two muscles along the spine that have not developed. They will give him three months to work on this problem. I'm prayig that he stays focused and doesn't get discouraged about the setback.
I got a letter. I had to drink a little and made bacon and pancakes for dinner. Anything to help. We have come to realize we will get together once hes at A school. Just cant afford the heartache again. And so many details not sure of. His original date was 8/10 but that has all changed. Hope he gets my letter quickly. I also hope someone extends the hand I did and invites him along for the day. Hate for him to be alone on such a big day. Im affraid to say to muchh might get yelled at again. Dont know how private this is.
I heard from my SR today. He passed his PFA's and will be doing Battlestations Thursday night. More info soon!
Anyone graduating 8/17/12? My son passed out doing his run because of medical issue. Says hes graduating friday? Is there PIR or battlestaions?
Very well said navyknit22! I feel the exact same way. My son has stress fractures in both of his feet. He was suppose to graduate August 31 but now, who knows. I talked to him on Sunday and he was moved up to level 3 so that was good. But, I feel so sorry for these recruits who are injured. He tells me how boring it is and how badly he just wants to move on and graduate so he can start looking forward to his future. Its so hard to be here and not be there with him!! Wow, its hard letting go of your children isn't it!!
Hi Lara,
Stress fractures in the shins seems to be a very common injury. My son had the same thing, so I know how hard it can be. Actually, he got back to Phase 4 (running again just prior to being finished with the medical thing) then reinjured himself (same leg) with another stress fracture to the shin. That gave him another 6-8 weeks in RCU to heal. While it can be very frustrating to us (and them, of course) they can get through it and make some great friends while there -- these kids have it really tough with "extended" boot camp, but it can also be a positive experience overall. Keep the positive cards and letters going to your SR -- they really do help.
Hugs!
-Janet
