It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

PRAISE THE LORD Janet!  I've been waiting to read that post that your boy is on his way to San Antonio for toooooo long!  Can't even IMAGINE how YOU must feel!!!  So happy for him and you that he's finally on his way to his new home, and you can now plan your visit at long last!  You'd better give us all the details girlfriend!  We're all very invested here - but you well know that!

boomMom, so sorry I didn't extend my sympathies to you and only to your son!!!  My sincere apologies my dear.  I know this is maybe almost just as hard on us as it is on our boys!

Jill, that's too funny about the "uber-confident, and always right" list.  My son could be added to that list as well.  I think he got it from my Dad who always said "I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong!"

I'm not sad he's back to Phase 3, Ladies! Heck! He's actually "injured" this time!! lol! I was never too worried about his heart rate, but since the docs there were, I bowed down to their expertise. I'm worried that this injury might be held against him because the minimum healing time of 6 weeks is going to take him over the 180-days mark! And I'm learning that THAT is not a good thing. But thank you all for your support of my SR and myself!

Jill - I would really like to be a fly on the wall listening to these boys, too, but probably fall off that wall laughing so hard! OR by trying to roll all those eyes! LOL!

Karen - Don't be sad for my son---be sad for ME! LOL! Just kidding! No, really, he's finally telling himself that he has to step it up a notch. I felt that he was goofing off anyway, although it wasn't HIS fault! He's finally taking his own life in his hands and doing something about it! YES! <fist pump!> I already have a lot to thank the Navy for! ;-)

Debra - Do you want to join me and Jill up on that wall?!? LOL!

Janet - That is terrific new about your son leaving GL! 'Bout bloody time! <snicker> I hope you and your Sailor have a wonderful visit (including your husband and other son?) and, yes, like Jill said, "DETAILS" please!

Comment by Jill on April 30, 2012 at 5:58pm

Janet: wonderful wonderful news!  It's about dadgum time!  lol  We want DETAILS of your upcoming visit to keep us going!

BoomMom: Don't be too upset about the backwards phasing.  My SR said that from what he can see, slow is best, seems like the ones who phase up the quickest have worse results down the line... And yes, mine said the same thing about the incoming books & mags, at least for the time being. Gee, hope I wasn't responsible for that, cause I have been sending a lot.. :(

I think my son may be in very good company from what the rest of you have written.  And you can add mine to the "uber-confident, and always right" list.  I bet we would all crack up if we could listen to some of their conversations.  lol

Just got a call from my husband to tell me my son called.  He is actually (and FINALLY) on the bus to the airport!!!  What a relief!  I guess that holding on to those medical records really was the thing that delayed his departure.  Unbelievable.  He said that he would call tonight after he gets there.  I guess I can start making plans to go see him finally.  I'll be sure to let you guys know.

It really is great to hear that many got calls this weekend.  News has been long in coming for everyone, so this really is fantastic news!!!   Hopefully things will ease up and they will be able to call more often.

BoomMom, sorry to hear about your SR going back a phase, but I'm glad that they found the problem.  They can get things right for him now.  So, is the rapid heart beat no longer a problem?  {Just curious again...}

As far as the sending books & magazines, I know that the moms here have been supplying lots, so the library is probably filled to capacity -- I know my son just kept donating the books I'd send, so I really wouldn't be surprised to hear that they just don't have anymore room to store stuff.

Sharon, be sure to give your boy a HUGE HUG from all the online moms here.  I'm so glad that he will be home with you soon.

Jill, Debra and boomMom, HOORAY for Sunday phone calls!  So happy to hear you ladies got to talk with your sons.  Believe me, I remember VERY WELL how that would absolutely make my day and week!!!

boomMom, so sorry to hear of your son going back to Phase 3.  Praying it will be brief, and he'll be out of there VERY soon, and no longer will be able to claim being there the longest.  = (  That just makes me so sad for him.

Comment by boomMom on April 29, 2012 at 6:51pm

No, Debra, not just your son! It seems like they take turns being the "idiot"! It's possible.....I can see that happening....;-D My son also wanted me to put the phone on speaker so that he could call his sister an over-achiever and other things because of her report card! (6-A's, 1-B) I told him that UNDER-achievers are.......I better not say it here, but I did say it to HIM! You're wrong, though Debra, some things DO change, just not THAT! ;-)

Jill - I hope your son can take him to the cleaners playing chess! He needs to be knocked down a peg or two! Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that my son has an abundance of confidence, but I know for a fact that it is hard to live with that 24/7! lol My son's favorite saying was, "It's not conceit or arrogance if I can back it up!" Ugh! LOL!

Anyways, I'm glad they called! Here's to a less stressful week....<clink!>

Comment by Debra11 on April 29, 2012 at 5:19pm

I got a phone call too!  He's doing pretty well, just waiting to hear if he's moving onto a division or not; he seems pretty confident that he is.  We talked quite a while last week, so today there was not much to say; although my daughter was with me, so he got all caught up on calling her various names.  Nothing ever changes....

boomMom, it's probably my son that's insisting he's right; that sounds like him!

Sharon, great news that you have a specific day now when you're son is coming home.  My son's friend that got never really started boot camp is coming home tomorrow.

Good thoughts to all our guys this week!

Comment by boomMom on April 29, 2012 at 4:49pm

Oh, yeah, I forgot to add that my son said they are not allowing any more incoming books or magazines! He didn't tell me why, he just said not to send anymore. <shrug!> They can read what is already there, just no more new ones. So, I'm sending printout puzzles from online. My son's favorite, which seems to be the fave of some others, are the logic problems. He says the group huddle in front of the whiteboard and discuss and map out the problem. He says there is always one "idiot" that insists that he's right, but he usually is not! He claimed HE was that "idiot" the last time! LOL! Double-check with your SR; I don't want to be giving out bum info. See ya'!

Comment by boomMom on April 29, 2012 at 4:40pm

I just got off the phone with my SR! THAT was sure long in coming! Anyway, he's been pushed back down to Phase 3 because during one of the running trials, he was sitting during the rest period, when it was time to stand up, his left leg wouldn't support him! The medics say there is something; I guess he has to see a doctor. But they also found that his right leg has a fracture that is almost 2 months old! Remember back when he went to the Medics for a leg injury and the rapid heart issue took precedence over the leg? He actually had a leg injury! I don't really know what so bad about that, it's just that he was never treated for the frature and I just hope it set properly. Since he's young, it might not affect him too much now, but I know for a fact that old injuries act up as we get older!

Anyway, I'm was just glad to hear his voice (it had been 4 weeks!) and hear his hopes and fears....He claims he's the senior in RCU now at 140 days! What?!? Is it like a contest with these boys?!? He says all the rest left. Is there congratulations in order here, Ladies? My son did not go into detail as to HOW they left, but I always lean toward the happy way!

I know there were a group of guys at the phone bank and I really hope it was all of yours! I guess I'm not getting a letter this week either! ;-P  Take care!
