It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Yes, he did answer my questions about what he's got left to do. We actually talked for quite a while. Basically, he's got the last bit of phase 4 to do, the 1500 m, then he can move onto the new division. He hopes that will be this week. He's doing well, he's enjoying his time in RCU, but he's looking forward to moving on and getting out of boot camp.
That's terrific, Debra! Did he answer some of your questions about what phase he's in and which distances he has left to do? I'm glad he's doing all right and in good spirits. And no letter or call from my SR; but it's cool; I can wait one more week! ;-)
.....but not two! :-|
I just got off the phone with my SR. He sounds great! What a wonderful way to end the weekend....Hope you all got calls or letters this weekend.
I know that they have to do the medical PFA (run 200m, 400m, 800m and 1½ mi. for time, then the sit-ups and push-ups -- certain # within 2 minutes.) After not running during the time they take to heal, I think it usually takes a little while for them to get back up to speed (at least it did with my son... slow poke that he is sometimes ;)) Phase 4 is when they start training again to go back to a division and finish everything required.
It's Friday, so hopefully EVERYONE will get calls and/or letters this weekend! Cheers!!

Debra, I agree with Navy2011Mom that you and your son are wonderful to open your home to his friend. His friend is blessed to have the two of you in his life.
Not sure what not passing means though. Hopefully, they'll be able to make phone calls this weekend so you can find out what he meant.
Navy2011Mom, thanks for the words of encouragement; he was so cute when he asked me; he got real quiet and said "mom, please promise me something; that you'll let ......stay with you if he needs to". It touched me too; how could I say no?
I have to say I'm a bit confused about the phases, I believe he's in phase 4; he said something about running a 200 than a 400, which he both passed, but then he didn't pass the 400 m twice around (which I guess would be 800 duh!). What happens then, does he just keep trying? And, I don't know what 'not passing' means - did he not run fast enough...
Debra... So happy you were able to get that call. Someone is certainly watching over you... Love when things come together!! I guess it makes sense that he's upset about his friend -- they may have made plans before your son ever left home.
What a wonderful person you (and your son too) are for opening your home to his friend. That is very touching, and I have to say that it really touches my heart!
Is your son now in Phase 4 and running? If so, that is wonderful to hear!!! If he's running the 400m he must be doing better, right? They usually run every other day -- 200m, then 400m, then 800m, then the 1½ mile. Congratulations!!
Jill... So happy you got a letter this week, and glad to hear that all is fine with your son. Moving to Phase 2 is a "happy dance" kind of day {{ I'm doing the happy dance right now to celebrate for your SR -- LOL!! }}
BoomMom... Hoping that you get a letter this week -- of course, you've been the lucky one the last couple of weeks and your letters have kept everyone going. That is so funny about you sending my son's picture to him. Maybe he will get those pictures ordered and/or sent soon -- hopefully!!
This afternoon, our son finally called for a quick minute to let us know he hasn't received his orders yet. If he doesn't get them by tomorrow, he might remain at Great Lakes for another 2 weeks -- UGH!! We may have to go to Great Lakes after all. I'll be sure to let you know.
I got a phone call today! I was just getting into my car after work and my cell phone rang, which is amazing as I can't have my cell at work, so I would have missed it. Anyway he was asking about his friend that just went to boot camp; he had somehow checked to see what division he was in and when he saw he was in Seps, he called me to see if I knew anything about it. I told him what I knew and he was pretty upset; I had never even thought of that angle, but I guess there was a chance they would have ended up in school together or maybe even the sub.
Other than that, my son's still in RCU, trying to pass his 400 meter or yard or whatever distance they have to run (not sure what phase that is??). He's still bummed about going to a division, but overall he sounded most bummed about his friend. Oh, and he made me promise to give his friend a place to stay if he needed it (his friend's mom has told him she doesn't want him to come home; not sure what's going on there).
That's it from me; Sharon, it sounds like your son is doing great and I'm sure you look forward to seeing him.
Another phone call today! He said Seps goes to the NEX on Tuesdays and Thursdays so he called me. He went to Medical on Tuesday and is now 'fit for travel'. He hopes to go to Legal tomorrow then it will be a few business days for the paperwork to be processed. He gets 2 days notice of when he will leave (be discharged) and gets his travel itinerary the evening before his flight home to Orlando.
He said there really isn't much to do there, in fact, he has watched 12-14 movies in the last couple of days and read. And he is now Starboard Watch for Seps.
I asked about the bacon & eggs and apparently only turkey bacon is served and the eggs are reconstituted from a powder so rubbery in consistency.
Unfortunately, there is no Liberty etc while in Seps so I think he enjoys the opportunity to walk to the NEX twice a week.
Continued prayers for all SRs to heal as well as phone calls and letters for all, Sharon
