It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

I'm so glad I met you ladies, even if it's toward the end of my journey with my son. I wish I had found you sooner; I've been pretty bummed out the last few months, I'm sure talking to you guys would have helped! Didn't hear from my son this weekend and am now on pins and needles wondering what's going to happen. His friend just left for boot camp last Thursday and has already been separated because of a skin condition. Now he has to wait 2 weeks and then turn right back around and come home.
Prayers for all of us!
Still lurking here ladies...
Phillies, so glad you had such a great trip and time with your daughter!!!
Sharon, very happy to hear your son's attitude is so positive, and he may even think of re-enlisting. After all he's been through, if he does make that decision, you certainly know it's something he wants A LOT!!! I wish him all the very best - whatever he decides.
Janet, so sorry to hear of the lock-down timing when Garrett's friends were in town. That's a real bummer, but I'm also very impressed at his attitude and maturity under the circumstances. Good for him!!!
The rest of you Mamas who are patiently awaiting news, any news, hang in there!!! Prayers continuing to be lifted for all.
Terrific for you and your Sailor, Phillies! I'm so happy for you! After all those years with them, and then you get put in the same category as "out of town vistors"!?! Aren't our children precious?!? I'm just kidding, Phillies! I am really happy that your timing was perfect and that you could spend time with her!
Janet--tough luck for your Sailor, but I just love how he's got his head wrapped around his new lifestyle/career! I'm humbled. I guess I still have some growing up to do...... ;-P
Phillies... I'm so happy you were able to see your daughter and that everything worked out. My son had some friends in the Great Lakes area over the weekend and because of the lock down, was not able to see them at all. When they have lock down, they really are not able to do anything -- WOW! He said that the friends were disappointed, but he was okay with it. He said that it's the military and you have to understand that things are just different -- you just have to do it their way -- whatever their way may be at that time. Seriously a different (more mature) person is there than the one that left home months ago.
Yea! Good news, AKA ray of Sunshine!! So glad for you Phillies!
Sharon, it gives me a great deal of comfort to know that if my son does find himself getting separated soon, he will have your SR to give him strength, and more important, information. I have already gained strength in the knowledge that I have learned from you and the rest of the ladies here.
Jill, I agree that I woke up this morning as if I had been weighted down all weekend waiting for my son to call, yet not wanting him to call--you know what I mean? (and btw, he didn't call) Fortitude--I need a heaping helping of THAT! And I'm using all of you Ladies as my bootstraps--there's not much of THOSE where I come from....how about some palm fronds woven into a belt? (not very strong, though)
Hey Janet! The big day is looming and I'm hoping it goes without a hitch!
Not Self but Country!
Sharon, thanks so much for the update. You really are on our minds, as you can tell. You've been such a wonderful source of strength and caring while I've been with this group, and I thank you for that. I'm happy to hear that your son is thinking about re-enlisting. He will be home soon and you can help him heal completely, so that will be a blessing. Wishing you all the best.
-Janet
Well ladies, it seems that we've all had better weekends. I know we never get too old to learn from the lessons that God has planned for us, and I think I'm naming this one "fortitude in the face of difficulty." Although they may be temporarily misplaced, I know we all have bootstraps that we need to pull ourselves up by. And our kids do too. Wishing peace and perspective for all of us today, and this week.
macday214 - my daughter usually got to call home on Sunday's - when her feet were not hurting tooo bad - so maybe today.....
