Daughter had misc classes last week (basic stuff on items all Sailors should know).  Today, starting classes at GL on who-knows-what.  She called Friday night, talked for 2.5 hrs, asking for civilian clothes, hoping to be in Stage 2 before she comes home for Liberty (October 10ish).  Has 4 other girls in her room, one on hold for over 3 weeks before she learns where her A School will be.  Room inspections on tuesdays BUT - daughter was caught off-guard on a surprise inspection (had items out that should of been put away).  Got "dinged" on it but otherwise it went well.  Before I know it, I'll be sending care packages where it will take 3 weeks for her to receive.

calbransmommy, my son is having the same problem, not much for them to do.  I notice that he is starting to sleep way too much and it is going to be very hard for him to get back in the routine.  He said the last group before them just classed up the Wednesday after they arrived so it may be a long time before they can class up now.

We have a friend who now works for the State Department.  When they were doing the security clearance on him, he said his butt felt like the Holland Tunnel.  The gov was finding people he had not talked to in over 15 years...yeah, they are very thorough to say the least!  The high you go up, the more this will happen.  Our friend served in the air force out of high school, he already had some levels of clearance but with the State Dept - a whole new level of "checking" - OUCH!   lol

calbransmommy - my son is in Pensacola as well.  His first class wont start until Oct. 22 so he is doing a lot of barrack support and watch as well.  They set his school back so far because of him needing the security clearance okayed first.

wlbradford I am praying for your dtr as well.  Hopefully she will find a few people that she can depend on and trust who can help her through this transition.
