Tink - mine would ask for a visit to her favorite restaurant (I've already researched it and found my daughter's fav place to eat near GL), sweddish fish, and one of those sugar-laced ice latee mocca coffies from McDonalds...LOL As soon as I get the "call", I'm sending my SR one of the care packages. She's trying to collect as many coins as she can and this will be an addition to her collection. Yes, we are going up but want to send our SR a BOX (a bit nicer than the Box we all got oh so many weeks ago). :-)
I DON'T KNOW BUT I'VE BEEN TOLD (I don't know but I've been told),
NAVY MOMS ARE MADE OF GOLD (Navy moms are made of gold),
THEY WILL FIGHT AND THEY WILL WIN (They will fight and they will win),
TO SEE A PICTURE OF THEIR KIN (To see a picture of their kin),
SOUND OFF (1, 2), SOUND OFF (3, 4),
BRING IN ON DOWN (1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, THREE, FOUR!!)
Any ideas of what I can get my SR for her birthday. It is this Sunday the 18th. In her letter she said, "Oh, yeah, my birthday is the weekend of graduation, so bring lots of presents, no just kidding, your "presence" will be my present". Aww how sweet. But, no seriously, I would like to do something special for her since we won't be with her on her actual birthday. Ideas???
Good Morning Everyone, 3 Days...Darn this is hard!
We can't tell you everything lol. Some things you have to learn on your own :-)
Here are some helpful tips for PIR. Have a great time and please travel safely.
If you drive to base don't line up in the far right lane the morning of PIR. That lane ends so stay to the left of it and it will save you lots of wait time.
When you get into the PIR Hall take some practice shots with your digital camera. Change your settings until you get the best pictures possible with the lighting and environment you are in. Your pics will come out much better and you will be glad you did.
If you go to Gurnee Mills Mall keep track of the amount of time you have. That mall is huge and there are no pass through stores or hall ways to work as short cuts. It is Z shaped so if you start at one end you have to go back to where you started the same way you came.
If your Sailor tells you the day of PIR that they will be on a chartered flight you won’t get to meet them at the airport. They go straight from the base to the Jet and don’t come inside the airport at all. This doesn’t happen very often at all, in fact I have only heard of it one other time since it happened to us over a year ago. But it did happen and it is better to be prepared. We didn’t say goodbye on Friday night because we thought we would have several hours with her at the airport. We just gave her a hug and a kiss and said we will see you in the morning. There was so much more that we wanted to talk about in person and we just didn't realize that we wouldn't be seeing her again at the airport. This was very hard for us and our Sailor but I know it wouldn't have been as bad if we had known we couldn't meet her at the airport. Plus we would have slept a little longer before the 18 hour drive home instead of being up and at the airport at 4am.
No matter what, just enjoy the time with your Sailor and hopefully you can plan a trip to visit them during A-school :-)
Ok, everything is in line. Crystal clear sky here last night, full moon was out and bright as a 1000w bulb, sending positive vibes to the northwest and my butt is dragging (went to bed at 1245, up at 0530) LOL Have to keep myself busy today and NOT watch the clock like a hawk. Please try to win a pic of our SRs today. Hope to see any division for Sept 16th's PIR. And now for some reason I have that song running through my head:
just keep swimming,
just keep swimming,
just keep swimming swimming swimming,
what do we do we swim swim swim
ha ha ha ha ha ha i love to swim when,
when you come just swim swim swim.
