I'm not to sure, he really didn't get into detail. I hope it isn't serious either. I'm super worried especially, since I don't have more info on what happened. :(

Did he hurt it during training? Hopefully it isn't too serious so he won't be set back too far-

cake mom- my girl just PIRed this past week 11/24- she was in RCU from 9/27 to 11/1 due to an ankle injury. the officers worked well with her and ran with her and knew how nervous she was about passing - she failed the first one by 14 seconds with a hurt ankle. She did her final pfa the 18th and ran in 13 minutes and change - almost 2 minutes better than her first try. Forward your calls to your cell if possible and always have it on your side so you wont miss a call again. Nikki called me on a tuesday night to tell me she was FFDed to a new division to finish off her boot camp and was able to participate since she passed her PFA etc. They will get more than one chance to pass and the officers look out for them as mean as they may get its all for a purpose. Nikki now wants to be an RDC in the future! She was definately touched by all of them.

So right on that point. They feel they actually earned that hat, they did not just muddle through. They achieved something many will never. She will have a sense of pride and it will be deserved. They do seem to be a bit different from those that PIR though. Any time spent in RCU/FIT is like spending time in a different place. They still learn, but it is a bit relaxed. They make friends and they can actually have a conversation without being yelled at.

I think it mentally prepares them for the future may bring. Seeing that A-school is a bit easier with communication, they still have to bust their butts and can either re injure and or run themselves down. So they are a bit more prepared I think.

lol! YOur son must have felt a mile high! That's what I tell my daughter, when this is over, and it will be, and you walk out in the Sailor cap, it is going to mean even more because of the challenges you faced!

My sailor had an RDC in RCU who really inspired him to pass the run after his knee injury. He was at week 5-1 when sent to RCU so had spent several weeks in his division. Said he had a "mean little so and so" RDC with his division. When he completed battle stations and was wearing his brand new NAVY cap, he met that mean RDC as he was headed to the NEX. The RDC did a double take, looked at my sailor and said "You're pooping me, you're pooping me, you mean you made it? Well I'll be damned, welcome aboard shipmate." Beaming a big smile at my son the entire time AND remembered his name. My sailor said that was the moment he knew it was real and he got a little emotional. The RDCs, all of them, want to see these recruits succeed. Especially the recruits who overcome illness and injury and fight to finish. It takes a lot of dedication and heart to overcome adversity, they see that too!

Your daughter's ordeal is really inspiring, thank you for sharing that!

No not boots for the PFA. They run in PT gear. Tennis shoes shorts and t-shirt. They have a track in the building where they live. This use to be ship 6 then was moved to ship 4 unless 6 is now finished with upgrades. lol

My daughter was sick, well we did not know this. She was weak and not feeling well on her second PFA (just off of LLD with ankle injury). Refused to go to medical (they get this way since they get LLD all the time) and get checked out, she never even told me just how weak she was. a week before her PIR she tried to run the 3rd one and almost collapsed, they tried with her the next week so she could PIR on time. Ended up in RCU 2 days before PIR. Find out on Sunday that she had to have a cyst removed from her groin area and another is being drained daily!! Infection running through her whole body. They were afraid it was MRSA (they had a recruit in her div with this and sent her home), but not thank God. They had to watch her for the next 2 weeks to make sure this did not tunnel to another part of her body. Then at 3 weeks she tried to run PFA and was just still tired and not ready. She ended up having jaw issues. This was a blow to the mind. They told her she needed surgery. So the RDC's said "if you do not want surgery here (which they say is not a good idea) then run like your a$$ is on fire." She finally did this and had like 7 seconds to spare. lol

The same day she passed her run, her brother came into P-days. They both said they did not want to be in BC together or even at the same time!! She ran BS-21 that night and was done on the 22nd. She just mulled around until the following Monday when she left for A-school. Now she is there and is so much happier. However her PT is much worse than most. lol

Your girls will be fine. Just keep encouraging them. I know the last 2 weeks she was there, I had not spoken to her. Sunday on our way to the hotel for my son, she called and was crying. She had to go infront of the MC. She (Master Chief ran with Kayla on Monday) and was scared. I told her to hold on and call out for Jesus and this would be done. This is what she had to do. I spoke with her about an hour or so. She also had a close friend who had passed her PFA the previous Thursday and was able to text me with messages from my kiddo. So I actually knew when she was running BS-21 since I never got a call. That was great and this girl will forever be in my heart. She did not have to do that, they make good friends in FIT if there long enough. Kay even got to be good friends with one of the RDC's. He has the same job as my kiddo so they would chat about that all the time.

The girls just have to know when to do this, if not ready and they fail this does go against them. They do give them quite a bit of trying time though.

That is so reassuring, thank you! I am really glad to hear that the RDC's are a little nicer, and willing to work with them. I bet your daughter was a mile high when she finally got out of there!! Did she have a fracture also? 39 days, that's about almost 6 weeks- I think that is what my daughter is expecting, barring any setbacks or bad news from the drs Still waiting to hear on that one!
