They really can wait, they have to ask to run the PFA and usually the RDC in charge there will ask them if they are sure they are ready, as this goes as a try.

They will work with them, they will even run with them sometimes. It just depends on if the RDC's see that they really want it bad enough.

My daughter had a few that would run and work out with her. It helps if ya are really wanting this bad. The RDC's are a bit different in RCU/FIT. They care about the recruits, or thats how we saw it. They would joke and chat with them. Its not BC per say. They can get to the computers to study and do tests.

I know that my daughter was also able to see her orders as the time ticked off of them.

When she passed she was on hold for a bit over a week. Most are on hold. They move to ship 5 and they will have duty there. this usually has to do with watch for the seps kids and getting these kids to legal, medical and the NEX.

You can usually (if close) come up and visit them as they will get some liberty. We spent the weekend with our Sailor. We loved it since we had not seen her since mid June and this was around Sept 22nd. She was 39 days past her PIR date and all worked out for her.

Wow, so they make them run before their fractures have healed? But they let them keep trying until they make it? With my daughter's 2 shin fractures and her foot, I don't know how many times she is going to have to try. At least she only has the one PFA left. I am just hoping she doesn't give up, and the navy doesn't make these recruits go home without plenty of tries! I hope your daughter passes soon, she must be so frustrated! I don' t know what keeps them going...but I am in awe of them.

I had the phone with me all day, today and yesterday, but I think she may be out of minutes on her card :( I sent her another card yesterday so hopefully it will reach her soon.

cakemom- if she is still in training, meaning still I think like 2-3 weeks from PIR. She will get sent to a division, it will not be the one she has lived and trained with. Now if she goes along and does these last things of training from RCU than she could just do BS-21 with divisions (none would be any she had an attachment to) and when she swaps her recruit cap to her Sailor cap that is it. She will have actually graduated. PIR is just a formality. This is how my daughter finished out. Rest assured, they call weekly so watch tomorrow for a call. It is usually on Sunday, but sometimes this can be a Sat or other day of the week. Nice long calls also.

Hi everyone, my daughter was sent to Ship 4 last Saturday. She had tried to make it through with a broken foot since she was only a couple of weeks away from PIR, and even passed her 2nd PFA, but then she got these terrible shin splints. Went to get an ice chit and some pain meds, well, it ended up those were fractures in each of her femurs. She is devastated, on crutches for the next 2 weeks. I only spoke to her once, I missed her call on Thanksgiving and am still kicking myself. Does anyone know what happens from here? I heard how hard it is to get back into a division once your recruit is sent here, is she really looking at having to come home? She was supposed to see the dr yesterday, but missed that call too. All of her time in BC I never missed one call, then I miss 2 in a row-

Ryans mom- yes that is the way it goes and all of a sudden you will get a call on a monday or tuesday (after he sees doctor)that he is being FFDed to a division to finish up! Good luck to you and my prayers are with him to heal quickly!

I got a call from my son tonight who is in RCU as of this week. They are telling him it may only be a couple of weeks, so that is very encouraging. He was in week 4 and will rejoin a division in that week when he is better. He was in good spirits, much better then when he had to call to tell me he was going there. I found out they don't get to leave for Thanksgiving however, so that is too bad. I was feeling awful for a few days thinking how terrible this is for him, but he sounded like he was dealing with it fine tonight. Hopefully there are no more set backs. I think the important thing for all of them is to get healed properly so they don't have another problem going forward.

my daughter just got back to a division 11/1 from 4 weeks of RCU- she had made some great friends there but had to go back to complete fire fighting etc she was at 4-3 when got hurt. I also loved the weekly phone calls but couldnt wait to hear that she was going back to a division to finish up. Shes fine there in RCU - most of the girls are very supportive and positive from what my daughter said so hang in there and continue to write and encourage her!
