I'm with you, mitchsmom. Our son usually was able to call on the weekends, but not always.

What's hard is not really knowing what is going on. When he called it was two minutes, I didn't ge to ask anything. How long before they let him really call and actually talk to me? This is driving me crazy. After crying all day now I am just plain mad that I don't know a damn thing. 37 HOURS OF LABOR I HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW !!!!!

mitchsmom - With only two weeks of BC left, your son may finish up on his own and not be assigned to a new division. My son finished up on his own, joining other divisions just to do firefighting and Battle Stations. He had a little less than two weeks left. (I think more like a week, since his division did BS early in the sequence.) He chose to finish up on his own since it would be faster that way. I was a bit disappointed that he had no PIR, but that was his decision and I understand how much he wanted to finish up. As he put it, his division, that he was a part of, had already graduated, and I know he wouldn't really have felt a part of any new division with so little time left.

Your son may indeed finish up with a division, but I thought you might like to know of another possibility.

Mitchsmomship- welcome sad that is they way we say hello in the sick ship sick, but glad you are here. Many moms get the call and to let you know I can testify they do get out. Mine was there since 8/13 and finished BS-21 this morn. It is a long road, you will feel helpless, understandable, we have all been there. I hope he heals well and ya never want it too fast since that can lead to bad things down the road.
My daughter will still need to have surgery but she is not opting to have this done in GL.... Oh well she is able to make her own mind up and unless the Navy disagrees (they own the Sailors) this is fine.

Okay,mitchsmom-stay on this site! Your SR will get through this and so will you! It is so hard at first, but he will adjust. Your SR needs tons of letters and tons of encouragement! Prayer goes a long ways also! My son was in RCU for almost 6 weeks with a leg fracture, but by the time he went back to a division I believe he was stronger than when he entered boot camp because of the physical therapy he received in RCU.

Hello everyone I guess I am joining your ranks after this morning. My SR called and told me no PIR on Oct. 1 He has a stress fracture in his leg, said 6 weeks to heal and then finish the last two weeks of bootcamp.

Tiff's Mom-Thanks for offering the parking pass! I would only need one. I talked to my son's recruiter and he also said to call the Public Affairs Office. I will do that tomorrow and if I still can't get the password, I will let you know. How much longer do you think the PIR 10/1 recruits will be writing?

Kare--Thanks for the info. My husband is concerned that if we call the Public Affairs Office that it might make problems for Liz. Were there any reprecussions for your son because you called?
