Stlvan~My son called on a Thurs to say he was leaving RCU and being put in a new division, I waited until Tues. (5days later) and when I still hadn't heard from him, I called the Public Affairs Off. and they made a phone call to his new div. I had a phone call from my son within 10 min. telling me his new pir, address and password. You are suppose to get a call from her, but if you don't, call the POA.

Tobianne~that is GREAT news! Thanks so much for letting us know how she's doing. I know it's been a long journey. I wish her a speedy recovery with her surgery too. My son will PIR on 10/8/10, God willing, and mrssauce's son will PIR 10/1/10. Please keep in touch, and let us know how Kayla's doing. I know you must be so proud of Kayla, she has worked so hard. Waiting for that "I'm a sailor call" must be so exciting. I will keep your daughter in my prayers.

stlvan, I had heard that you should get a phone call when they are assigned a new division, but I wonder how prompt they are about it. My son had told us he would be declared FFD on a Tuesday, and I didn't hear from him until Thursday morning. Now his situation was a bit different (he wasn't assigned a new division and just finished up boot camp from the RCU), but no, we didn't hear the news right away.

Sorry, Karen, messed up who it was that needed the password. As long as mrssauce gets the info (and from more than one of us!), I'd say that's good. :)

Michimom~That is mrssauce that needs the password. I have my sons new password. But that is the same advice i was going to give her. I heard you can call the Public Affairs Office too to get the password if you have the old one.

My stepdaughter has been in RCU about a month with broken toes. She passed her PFT on Friday and was expecting to be moved to a new ship and division over the weekend or today at the latest. She called us on Friday to say she passed the run and expected to be moved. She did not call on Sunday as she has every Sunday since she has been in RCU. I expected a short phone call today, perhaps even scripted to let us know that the move was complete and what her new grad date would be, but we did not receive one. Does any one know how long it takes before you are notified about a new grad date and their new address when they return to training? Should I expect a phone call? Do I wait for a letter from the Navy or from my step-daughter with the new info?

MrsSauce I printed out 10 of them!! I can get you one or two or three if need be!! I am going to bring them with me, but if Tiff doesnt make the PFT Friday, then I won't be going... do you want to message me? I will do whatever I can to help you! Can we only use the password ONE Time?? Meaning, if I went back on there, could I print more or no?

Karen, contact the public affairs office and see if they can help you with the password. Have that letter with the old password with you when you call; I think they might want verification that you had it in the first place, or maybe they can check his list of people invited to PIR.

Hi Karen, My son is doing well. We are all very excited about seeing him graduate next week. The only thing I am worried about is that I don't have his division's password to get a parking pass. Hopefully I will get a letter with it in the next few days. If I don't get a password, I can always park outside of base at the train station (I heard). His legs are sore but I think that is more from all the marching, etc. Many prayers for all the moms on this site. TN Navy Mom and Karen and I know exactly how everyone is feeling. It is hard for other people to understand that. But know that you are not alone!

Julie.... looks like a lot of support here... but only here? Is there other groups on here for injured kids? Do you still chat with the moms from your original PIR group? I was at the bookstore tonight with my son and I was thinking there could be so much to send them while they are there, but they can't have anything :(

julie - I certainly feel what you are going through. My sailor called me on 3/19 and said Mom, I'm not going to PIR on 4/9. I'm headed to RCU, stress fracture. Well lo and behold there he went. After exrays, bone scans, and finally an MRI they found that he didn't have a stress fracture but had jacked up his knee. He was at week 5 day 1.

It was the hardest thing that I've gone through in a long time. He's far away, he's injured, he's scared of being separated, he's bummed out, and he wants to give up. I held up okay on the phone then after dinner that night, I cried so hard that I shook all over.

Jake can do this. It will NOT be easy. They will threaten him with separation he will have to prove that he wants to be there. he can do it. My little sailor did it. He did NOT PIR but chose to complete his requirements from RCU, then was on hold for a while. He left home on 2/9 and left Great Lakes on 6/9. It made him stronger. It made him even more proud of his accomplishment. What hurdles they have to cross in RCU, huh? Fingers crossed and prayers lifted up for our sailors in RCU. Send me a friend request if you'd like and I can tell you more about my sailors time in RCU.
