Oh she is, we got a letter saying something about redbull shots and wishing she could have them!! She tells her younger sisters that it is going to "suck" having to miss a day of school to come and see her so early in the year. Meaning right after they start, they go back to school tomorrow. So I am holding to that. She says she is ready to pass this run now and to go on to BS21.

I got a call yesterday morning from my SR. He had an appointment on Monday and the followup is TODAY! Good news: He didn't get told "see you next Monday". Bad news: He has a followup today. *LOL* He says he's feeling better, but he's got some complications running right now. He won't tell me all the details and it's kinda bothering me, but I have to respect his wishes (for now... I'm sure I'll wring it out of him later). I'm still waiting for him to say he's in phase 3 physical therapy, which would allow him to at least move forward. He might not be BS21 ready, but if he can do the last test and firefighting it'll help keep his spirits up.

Tobianne -- great news about your SR! I bet she's excited to at least start moving forward. :D

Well that sounds pretty good than, as she would only be a short (lol) drive from home. We are about 7 hours from GL so if she was to be on hold there, we could see her often, well as often as the gas money allows for....
Thank you for that information TN Navy mom. It will help me to be able to help her see that it may not be a bad thing to be there still.

Tobianne, great news!!! My son did the same thing. Didn't participate in PIR. He actually completed Battle Stations on a Friday and got Liberty that weekend. He was on hold in GL for about a month before being sent to Goose Creek. Of course, he completed BS, then the big flood hit Tennesse and the base at Millington was under water and all of their orders come out of Millington so it probably took longer than it would have. He was there for a month but got Liberty each weekend when he wasn't standing watch. He got to go sightseeing in Chicago, hang at the mall, and when he had "on base" liberty, he hung out at the NEX and they had a lounge in THU. He was Yeoman in THU waiting for orders. They are kept busy but treated like sailors and NOT sick recruits.

I got a nice long call yesterday, her letter was upbeat , but the call was great. She is doing so much better and her voice is up and happy. She is back to full duty, she pushed for this, and even ran her PFA Friday (was to soon as she did not pass this) and wants to get motivated to finish this chapter of her Navy life.
Of all my calls thus far this is the best and longest one yet. She said they call on Sat, if they go to the NEX if not then from the quarter deck. Unless the dreaded SIQ which then no call.

She has chosen to do private ceremony so no PIR ceremony. She said that it is not her div. and therefore she does not want to take any credit for the flags they may have gotten and this way she could also possibly leav e sooner. Also is checking to see if she will be in the "Hold" spot since her A-school has prob. already started. She wants to be on hold in TX though says she is ready to get out of GL!!

Did I say she was healing well, they do not have to cut the other spot out it is taking care of it self. she was doubled up on meds though and she said she is still not to be out in the sun yet for too long.

My son has been able to call on the weekends. It seems like when he goes to the NEX, he gets to call. Don't know if this is typical or not though or if there are other times to call. I have to share his phone calling with his girlfriend! LOL!

Oh well thats great. I can tell her that.

I got a letter today, she sounds better. Thank You Jesus.
She said the chief that did her surgery was impressed that she wants to get back to BC and to be able to run asap. She said she is still bleeding pretty good and that it is (sorry this is gross) ozing pus. That could be a good thing I think getting the infection out. They doubled her antibiotic.
She says an RDC is willing to help her get her run down, but she will now have to wait most of 2 more weeks as the extra meds will make her sick to get over heated.
Does anyone know about them being able to call home? She said that she was so happy she got to talk to me, and that she felt much better and knew I could give her mommy supprt. Loving and firm and nurturing...
I am so happy that she is feeling better emotionally, she said the fevers were still there just not very high so this was good also.

I hope everyones SR's are doing better.

she'll always have her job because that's the contract she signed for. The navy will let them continue it... the only problem becomes if there is a "seat" available at A-School when she's done training. At least that's what I'm understanding.
Comment by Tobianne on August 20, 2010 at 8:21pm
we can only hope that they have the mind set to think about getting healthy enough, which I am sure at this point they just want to finish. I know Kayla was upset but she said now she just wants to be able to finish, she said she is not caring what div she goes to. She just is worried about her job. Does anyone know how long they hold their jobs for if they end up in RCU? She does not want to be undesignated, as that could mean a longer stay in GL which she said will be long enough when she finally gets to graduate.

Thanks for the kind words JDs Angel. I know everything will be okay. Just really wanted to see my son. I hope the guys aren't feeling too down.
