Yes she likened it a mental ward, she was discouraged when the recruits in there told her they did not care if they got back to the divs or not and were mostly hoping to be sent home. I think she was saying that some were soft and when the going got tough the got up and got sick so they could leave!!! I have not heard from her just the call early this week and then the letter the next day. I hope she is able to call, I will be sleeping most of the weekend away due to my work schedule. I always wake up to talk to her.
I am heavy on the encouragement and she is always glad to hear that from me. I get letters that are just 1 page saying how she is so thankful to have me and the encouragement I send is the best. She had some very "low" times and would have just walked away from training had I not stepped in.

So this is what I do, and what we all do. Our job while they are gone is to support and encourage. I can not cook for her or take her shopping or even have late night heart to hearts with her, but you sure know I will pour it all out in a letter to show my love and support for these kids.

Tobianne ... my SR basically said he thinks Ship 6 is like a POW camp. Pretty harsh, but I guess I can understand. Being in the RCU is very difficult. My SR said that a lot of people go home from there but a lot also do finish up. Training is a privilege that, yes, has to be earned, while you're there. So in a sense its worse and better than regular division training. I guess. That's what I'm hearing. I've been in contact with my SR a LOT this week (NOT COMPLAINING!!!!!!) and his spirits do seem to be getting better. The best you can do is just stay positive and keep sending mail and do your best to encourage. My SR is going crazy too and he wants out, but he is stuck for a while. He said last phone call that he hopes for good news on Monday (when he has a standing appointment to have his legs checked). If he gets to Phase 3 then it should be smooth sailing (no pun intended) from there on out.

This week is tough... I should be in Great Lakes right now with my boyfriend celebrating. I hate to sound like a negative nelly, but it does kinda dampen the spirits. Anyway, hopefully it'll be good soon.

Thanks Karen. Trying not to think about it. My kindergarteners will keep me busy today!

mrssauce ~ I will be thinking about you and your son this weekend. I'm sorry for any sadness you'll both be feeling about him not being at graduation. His day WILL come and you and him will be soooo proud, because you'll know how hard he has worked to get to that day, and it will make it that much more special!!!! :)

I was the same way, I felt horrible for her. She was upset and wanted to see us, but now that it is gone she is looking toward the future. You will make it. It is a sad day and you just need to find things to fill your day with.

I am glad my tears are okay about my son's lost PIR day. I told myself I wouldn't think about it, but as soon as I slow down from my busyness, it comes to me again. After this weekend I will feel better because it will be behind us and then we are definitely going forward to a new PIR date.

My sailor missed his PIR too. I cried that day and he was pretty bummed out. He didn't join another division, stayed connected to his division and graduated from RCU.

Right we "have" to stay positive for them, no other way. My daughter will be there I am going to say a week today. She sounded better as the call progressed. Sad at the end.
She wants to run and as I said she is LLD and limited standing and sitting up. Or so she said she was I hope today she is able to do more.

She is worried about her job. She said I feel like the "Madd Hatter", I am late for an important date. She wants to be in TX doing A-school.

I pray that they all heal soon and can get back to BC.
mrssauce- it is hard knowing you could have been done. Kayla watched as her div. and others went to PIR. She said it stung and burned. She wanted to be there, she has gone this far and wants to keep going.
Yes she too said I was ready to just come home. Then I thought about how I would have wasted all this time learning and doing well.

Thanks, He sounds the best I've heard him sound since getting to ship 6. He said he walks the track and eventually will be running around the track. He says his foot still hurts, but it feels better than it did. I just hope he doesn't push it too soon. I hope he is completely healed before he goes back to BC. I don't think he can handle another setback if he ends up reinjuring it because he wasn't ready! But I will not think like that, I'm going to stay positive.
